The Office Has Disappointed Me

I’m horrified by the lastest episode of The Office. *

*Spoiler*

Last night’s episode started off with funny Halloween costumes, but they quickly skipped forward to the next day. I was kind of confused by the flow of the show-I felt like they should have shown more Halloween fun. Still, it was funny to see Dwight, Creed, and Kevin all dressed up as the Joker. Creed’s costume was intense! He looked so much like the real deal.

So skipping to the part where I’m completely disappointed by The Office storyline and its writers. Michael finally has a great girl-Holly, and they barely get a chance to be together and they write her off. I knew that was bound to happen, because that is what every sitcom does. They let you fall for a sweet couple and they break them up. Why writers, why do you do this to us? Like there isn’t enough sadness in this world? I loved how Holly would dork out with Michael, it brought so much to the show. So now are we going to have Jan back? Plus Holly moving to her old job just like that? Does she love Dundar Mifflin so much? Maybe there will be an opportunity for her to come back on the show. I really hope so-it’s about time Michael was able to settle down.

It was good to see Pam and Jim together-I can’t wait for her to come back to the Scranton branch. Or maybe for her to get a real job that she loves-but just the opportunity for her and Jim to have more camera time together. They’re the heart of the show in my opinion, and it sucks that she’s gone. I am hoping that the next episode is happier, because this one was pretty much a big downer in my book.

Fall is finally here!

It’s finally fall! I’ve been waiting for this season for a really long time. I love that the nights are chilly, where the boy and I can burrow under the blankets and snuggle. I think it might be time to break out the electric blanket because it’s getting downright cold. I love it thought! I think that there is just something about the seasons and change that makes me happy. Plus the fall leaves are gorgeous!
It’s only a few days until Halloween, and I’m getting excited to flaunt our costumes. I’m dressing up as Alice in Wonderland, and the boy is going as the White Rabbit. I’ve never done the couple costume thing, so it should be a pretty fun time. :-)

A Look at Some of My Favorite TV Characters

Here’s just a few of my favorite TV Characters from the shows I watch weekly:

From The Office-

Jim and Pam:

Jim Halpert: Last night on “Trading Spouses,” there’s… did you see it?
Pam Beesley: No, I have a life.
Jim Halpert: Interesting, what’s that like?
Pam Beesley: You should try it some time.
Jim Halpert: Wow. But then who would watch my TV?

I love that Pam and Jim have this really relaxed, playful relationship. They can tease each other, and they can be themselves. They’re just fun, and they seem like a genuine couple. I hope the writers keep them together.

Angela:

Sometimes the clothes at the Gap Kids are just too flashy so I’m forced to go to American Girl and order clothes for large Colonial dolls.

She’s kind of creepy the way she loves dollhouses, cats, and all things litte girl. Yet she has this evil streak and does things like hook up with Dwight even though she’s dating Andy. It’s crazy, but you gotta love her for all her bitchiness.

From How I Met Your Mother-

Ted:

Look, this woman could actually be my future wife. I want our first kiss to be amazing.

I love him for his hopeless romantic ways. I love him for his idealism, and how great he is as a friend.

Barney:

Look, our forefathers died for the “pursuit of happiness,” okay? Not for the “sit around and wait of happiness.” Now if you want, we can go to the same bar, drink the same beer, talk to the same people every day or you can lick the Liberty Bell. You can grab life by the crack and lick the crap out of it.

For all his devious ways, and his player behavior, deep down he’s a great guy. When he brought Lily back to NY from San Francisco it showed his true character.

Marshall & Lily:

Lily: We should come up with a whole new last name.
Marshall: Oh, that’s easy; Lily and Marshall Skywalker.
Lily: Lily and Marshall Hasselhoff.
Marshall: Oh, got it. Lily and Marshall Awesome. Have you met our children, our son Totally and our daughter Freaking?

Oh this couple, sigh. I like to think that the boy and I are a lot like Marshall and Lily-we’re a little bit mushy. Ok, we’re a LOT mushy just like them, and we’re comfortable yet we are still crazy for each other. That’s Marshmallow and Lilypad. Love em!

Samantha Who?-

Samantha:

Stupid old me! The old me really screw the new me over, didn’t she? How am I suppose to start fresh? when my past keeps reaching into my future and pulling me into my present!

I love good Sam, but I can’t stand bad Sam. It’s cute to watch her cringe at how she used to be. I confess, I’ve had me some “Bad Bdubs” moments and I shudder at them as well.

Dena:

Samantha: My heart is still beating like crazy. You gotta feel this. (takes Dena’s hand and places it on her chest)
Dena: Yeah, I’m kind of creeped out by the fact that there’s something in our chests that’s pumping blood. I do not like that.

She’s Samantha’s sweet, dorky yet loveable friend from high school. She’s fun because she’s so naive at times. I adore her!

From 30 Rock:

Liz:

Liz: I hate going up to Donaghy’s office even for something normal. I always feel like I’m entering the Death Star. I swear if Donaghy does this [does Darth Vader force-strangle] at me, I’ll run.
Pete: You’ll be fine, Captain Needa.
Liz: No, Captain Needa dies, he dies!

She’s a quirky, independent single chick. I love that she’s got a successful job, and that she is still a big ol’ dork at heart. I see a lot of myself in Ms. Liz Lemon

Weekly TV Show Recap 10.24

Weekly TV Show Recap-I’m only going to post about How I Met Your Mother and The Office this time, because I feel that those two episodes were by far the best.

Alright, spoiler time:

The Office- I was so excited that Michael finally got the girl. They make an adorable couple. The only problem now is corporate and the threat of one or both of them getting fired. I don’t like where the storyline is going with Pam and Jim, with the writers hinting to us that they are unstable. Aren’t they only apart for 3 months? That’s nothing! I will be so mad if they make it so that they break up. Seriously guys, learn from the Ross and Rachel mistake. It was a dumb one, and the show went in the crapper after they split up. Do the loyal fans right and keep them together!

How I Met Your Mother-Now I called it long before that Stella wasn’t going to end up with Ted, but they way they showed it in the latest episode, I would never have guessed it. Stella leaves Ted for her ex boyfriend and the father of her daughter. WOW! And Robin drops the bomb that she still has feelings for Ted! Well I don’t want those two to get back together, but Robin had some great points. Nothing about Stella and Ted’s relationship was about the real Ted. The real Ted is a hopeless romantic, and here he was just basically taking an already planned wedding? That’s not our Ted. When he meets the love of his life, we’ll know it. It’ll be great-and I can’t wait for it to happen!

My Apartment Complex Makes Me Uneasy

Work has drastically slowed down lately, and I’m pretty sure it’s because of the current economic crisis. I think most people are pinching their pennies, including me. Still, it doesn’t stop me from daydreaming about owning a home one day, instead of this drudgery of apartment living. Our place isn’t that bad, but the neighborhood is lacking. Plus there are a limited number of covered carports so the BF and I are constantly switching. I can’t wait to have a garage, so we can both park in a covered spot. Also, I hate that poor Monkey has  no backyard to run around in.

I have been walking the poor pup at night, but I get nervous as it gets darker. This isn’t the safest neighborhood, and I don’t feel as secure without the boy there with me. Just today, when I got home from work, some really creepy looking guy started following me! I was walking upstairs, and the boy pulled into our parking space at the same time. He said he watched the guy turn at the last minute and walk the other way. It sent chills down my spine! January and the end of our lease can’t get here fast enough.

Twilight Trailer

I know December is still a little ways away, but I can’t stop drooling over this. This book series is by far my favorite-it even trumps Harry Potter (sorry harry!) in the most riveting category. I cannot wait till the movie is out. This will be better than Christmas! :-)

Today I Ran Like a Girl

It’s hard to put into words how this morning’s half marathon made me feel. It’s hard to describe the emotions you go through as you watch 20,000 people line up in San Francisco, each person excited, jittery, and anxious. It’s impossible to describe the lump in my throat as I lined up behind a mother whose jersey said, “For my son, in memory” with a picture of a little boy no more than 7. To know that over 18 million dollars were raised in this year’s race for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, and to know that the donations I received are a part of that number is beyond comprehension.

As the gun went off, there were so many people that we had to wait to get to the start line. It took 15 minutes after the official start time before we crossed it. I felt like I was being swept away into the current of people, and it was hard not to start out too strong. I felt like sprinting I was so excited! My goal was to run the race in 2 hours and 30 minutes, but I was going to be happy with 3 hours, especially considering the bad shape my feet were in. I’d been suffering from planter fasciitis, a condition that causes severe heel and arch pain, and the first few steps were brutal. But as I looked up, I noticed I was running behind an honoree, someone who had battled cancer and I thought, this is nothing compared to what he went through.

My name was written on my jersey, and even though I was running alone, and none of my friends and family could be at the race, I felt like I had a fan club. Spectators were gathered all over the course, and they happily screamed, GO “Insert my real name here”! It really helped push me, especially up those monsterous hills. When I crossed the finish line I had tears in my eyes and the biggest grin on my face. I couldn’t believe the time-I managed to run the race in 2 hours and 17 minutes.  Almost 15 minutes faster than my goal time! I owe that all to the motivation of every runner out there, and all of the spectators. Watching the strength and drive of so many people at one time is enough to make anyone pick up the pace.

Now I sit here resting, with my feet and knee iced, and exhaustion setting in. Will I ever run another half marathon? Probably not-but what a great thing to say that I did. This was by far the most challenging thing I’ve ever done in my life. I couldn’t have done it without my sponsors, my friends and family, and boyfriend for motivating me to stick with the workouts. And last but certainly not least, my team. Team in Training may have been difficult at times, the early morning workouts, the lollygagging around waiting to start our runs, but in the end it was so worth it. Being among the people out there in purple jerseys was exciting, and I was never without a team member in the run, be it from my chapter, or all the other chapters that came out. The team was full of encouraging people-everyone was so positive and enthusiastic, and without them, I would have surely quit. So thank you, and GO TEAM!!!!

Weekly TV Recaps 10.17.08

Here is my week of spoilers and recaps of my favorite TV shows. Enjoy!

How I Met Your Mother-This one was definitely the best show of the week. Ted dropped a bomb at the end of the episode, foreshadowing the end of his relationship. I knew he wouldn’t end up with Stella-despite how sweet she was, that wasn’t the way he was going to meet the mother of his children. They had too many differences, and she just wasn’t the one. I loved that the crew kept having interventions, and I thought it was a good way of opening Ted’s eyes to his situation with Stella.

Samantha Who-She’s back! I like this show because it’s cute and quirky. However, the premiere episode, with the storyline of Sam and her mom entering a dancing contest was…lame. Still, it was funny and Samantha was cute as always. She dances as bad as I do!

Grey’s Anatomy-This week Erica and Callie went on their first date. I can already tell that Erica is way more into Callie than Callie is to her. I’m wondering if they’ll have some big catfight in a coming up episode. There wasn’t nearly as much drama or chaos in this episode, and it ended on a fairly good note-with Meredith reading her mother’s diary with Christina. My biggest problem with that is I wish she could have trusted Derek to read it with her. Why does she always lean so hard on Christina? Sometimes it’s ok to lean on your boyfriend too Mer. Come on!

Brothers & Sisters-I just plain love the family squabbles in this show. Every week it’s something new. It’s fun to watch because they’re a real family. I like the Justin and Rebecca twist but I’m tired of Justin always going back to drinking. New storyline please! As for the Ryan thing, I hope they do tell him who he is. I want to see them contact their long lost brother. Oh, and I can’t wait to see Kitty get a kid-she’s going to be such an awkward mother!

Eli Stone-The season finale left a major cliffhanger for Eli. He had surgery on his brain tumor and he was in a coma. At the end, he opens his eyes, but we don’t know what happened. I know he’ll be ok of course because he’s the star of the show. But will his premonitions be gone? Will he still be a prophet? This had me anxious for the premiere. So the suspense paid off! This was a fantastic episode! I couldn’t believe it when Nate started getting visions too. Then when Eli realized his therapist was a vision too-wow, things couldn’t get any weirder. I love the heart that Eli shows in this show, but I am so anti-Taylor. That girl is evil and so ignorant. He has successfully predicted so many things, yet she still refuses to believe him. She finally does at the end of the episode but I still don’t like her. And Eli gets his aneurism back, so his brother doesn’t have to suffer. He shows the ultimate sacrifice here, and I think this shows the strongest character development. I love this show!!

The Office-Michael finally did it! He grew a pair! Good job buddy! I was so proud of him for asking Holly out. I really wish he’d just tell Jan off. She’s such a freeloader! I am shocked that he’s helping support this baby that he has no relation to. I can’t wait for Pam to come back-the relationship she has with Jim is so great. I love the way they connect, and at the end of last night’s episode they really showed how the two are just meant for each other.

Desperate Housewives-I was horrified when Bree tried to parent Danielle’s son. I can’t say I’m surprised but man! I am so glad my mother isn’t like her. I’d be so pissed if someone tried to change the way I was raising my kid. Gabby needs to get her act together, this poor me thing is crap. Just because you don’t have money doesn’t mean you have to be dumpy. Hey Gabby? I’m broke but I don’t look like I just woke up. Get it together! And her fat little daughter is such a brat. I was so proud of Susan for knocking her down.

Paying it Forward

I love it when friends recommend great books I should read. Coast Sister went above and beyond that and actually sent me a book she wanted me to read-Twilight. We both ended up loving the series so much that we both purchased the set in hardback. So I’ve been left with a copy of the first book in paperback, and she suggested I pay it forward to another reader. I did, and I hope my friend Personality Twin likes it. I think that’s such a cool idea, and I plan on giving books more for gifts to friends. I love nothing more than a good book, especially one I can read over and over again.
