We’ve been trying to figure out if we’ll take a mini-moon after the wedding but we happen to live in a really expensive area. I can’t imagine how a hotel can justify $300 a night for a room. I guess the bathroom accessories are dipped in gold? I think since D and I are such no frills no fuss people we’ll just go camping instead. I think it’ll be pretty romantic, sleeping out under the stars, roasting marshmellows and just being together. Can’t think of a better way to celebrate our wedding.

I’m so proud of my fiance-he just got the job he’s been gunning for for over six months. We’ll be moving to the East Bay in October, right after the wedding. I’m just hoping we don’t have to rent for long. There are some great Outer Banks foreclosures just outside of the city limits that would be perfect for raising a family. We both can’t wait to own a home of our own. With this new job we’re well on our way!!
I’m rereading a book I’ve had in my collection for years because I haven’t had time to stop by the library. Plus I felt that I needed to brush up on my random facts. The book The Know It All by AJ Jacobs is the true story of how AJ Jacobs takes on the daunting task of reading the Encyclopedia Britannica from A-Z. I think the minute I got to asset based lenders my eyes would glaze over and I’d be done. But this guy sticks it out to the end, and manages to retain a whole lot of information. I’ll be lucky if I remember half of what I read just from his book. It’s pretty entertaining either way!
While we were on vacation D and I were talking about what wedding favors we’re going to give everyone. I went ahead and bought some cheap favor boxes and I plan on dressing them up with a bit of ribbon, and then putting something inside them. I thought it’d be kind of fun to get custom usb drives since I’m a computer techie. Wouldn’t that be funny? But I think we may just go with hersey’s kisses or some other sweets, like a ghiradelli chocolate since we’re in the SF bay area. Our boxes are pretty small, otherwise it’d be fun to do both!
The atmosphere in the office is really eerie here lately. There has been a lot of belt tightening talk. My boss just let one of my coworkers go which was really sad. Luckily she is also a caretaker for a man on disability insurance who pays her really well, so she has a fall back. I worry about myself because I am not so lucky. My hubby to be is hopefully going to be hired with a great job, but we won’t know for sure for another week. I know my clients love me and they know I do a great job, but is it enough? This economy has everyone strapped, so I can only hope that my charismatic personality and skills will be enough to keep me employed.
I can’t tell you how happy this makes me. I just never understood why so many Californians would pass a law that bans specific people from marrying each other. How does that harm anyone else? No matter what your religious our personal beliefs, how is it going to hurt you if two men or two women decide to get married? Are you mad because they can now open up a joint health savings account or get benefits if one of them passes away? Why shouldn’t they have the same rights as heterosexuals? I feel like we were so stuck in the dark times, as our society was back when segregation was in effect. Come on people! Equal rights for all. I’m so proud of my home state for getting with the program and realizing banning people from marrying is as unconstitutional as not allowing black people or women the right to vote. Federal Judge Walker for the WIN!!
