Baby News

We’re having a baby!! I’m soooo excited. I can’t wait to start showing, and to fix up the nursery. I’m already daydreaming about filling my ipod touch 32g with classical music for the baby to listen to in utero. It’s going to be such an incredible time. Luckily I haven’t had too much morning sickness yet, just a mild queasy stomach. Hopefully it stays that way!

I Need to Learn to Play An Instrument

I’ve wanted to learn to play an instrument for a long time. I’m a decent singer, if I do say so myself, but singers are a dime a dozen. If I could learn to play an instrument too, I could make my own music. I bought a guitar a few years ago and it is such a challenge. What I would really love to learn is the
yamaha dgx 640 88 key digital piano. Pianos are beautiful and I love the sound they make. I have pretty dexterous fingers and I’ve been told I could easily play if I learned. Now I just have to find a used keyboard so I can start practicing. I wonder if we should soundproof a room in the house first. ;-)

Insurance

Insurance

Guest post written by Joseph Finch

I am seriously considering buying a Elizabeth Home Security system. I can’t decide if it is really worth the money. It is one of those things in life that you really wish you had if something bad happens but a bill that you never really want to pay. It is just like health insurance or cancer insurance. It isn’t something you really want to spend money on, but you know you will want it if you get sick and need to go to the hospital. I can’t imagine if your home was broken into and all of your belongings were stolen. I really can’t imagine if your house was broken into while you were home. That would seriously be traumatic. I probably just need to go ahead and sign up for it because just the fact that I am considering it means something is probably going to happen if I don’t get one. The last time I was driving and I mentioned that I hadn’t gotten a speeding ticket in a year, the next thing I saw in the rear-view mirror was police lights pulling me over. That is just how it goes, isn’t it?

Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas

Wow, where did January go? I can’t believe we’re over halfway through the month already. February is fast approaching and I feel so unprepared. The Hubs’ birthday is coming up, followed quickly by Valentine’s Day. I have no clue what to get him for either holiday. I know Red Envelope has all kinds of great one of a kind gifts, like boston redsox cufflinks, or those great catch alls that would be perfect for his dresser. I’m sure I’ll come up with something!

Home Improvement Projects

Now that we’re home owners it seems all our spare time has been working on the house. We recently replaced our light fixtures in the upstairs hallway, guest bathroom, and family room. It may sound like a lot but we still have eight more fixtures to go. Those suckers aren’t cheaper either! I think I’m going to have to see if I can find a bunch of sears coupons to help us save.

As much work as these projects are, they are also so satisfying when we finish them. Check out what we’ve done so far!

Vampire Diaries-The New Deal

Wow, go Jeremy! He really acted like a badass this episode. I was happy to see him acting strong rather than just brooding and miserable. I loved the moment when Elena slapped Stefan for being a jerk. I love that her character is getting stronger too.
Man these writers really love to kill Alaric. I’m glad they never follow through with it, since his man candy is one of the main reasons I watch this show. Well that and Damon.
I can’t believe Elena had Damon compel Jeremy again. WTH? Does that mean he’s not going to be on the show anymore? Also where the heck was Caroline? I actually missed her, which goes to show how much her character has grown on me. I used to hate her. Now Bonnie? She can just go ahead and leave and not come back. That chick bugs me!
I’m so happy there is new tv programming on. I’ve been really tired of reruns!

Remodeling on the Brain

We’ve been making real progress in the house so far. I posted about the lighting that we updated, and now we’re tackling the master bathroom. It feels so great to put our mark on our place. I’m looking for some nice pieces of furniture to fill the empty front room area. I think some good quality amish furniture would look so nice in the front sitting room. I’m budgeting and saving and hope to get a new couch and buffet table in the near future. I can’t wait to finish up the decorating!

The Help-DVD Review

I watched The Help the other night with a friend of mine, and I absolutely loved it. It was one of those movies that makes you cry, and there is more than one moment where I yelled at the tv. I really felt sucked into the storyline, of watching these stories from the view of the help, and all the injustice that these amazing and strong women went through. I won’t recount it all, I will just say that it’s a must see, and now I can’t wait to read the book, because my friend said it’s even better (as most books turned to movie usually are). The scenes with one of the help talking to the little girl and telling her, “You is kind. You is smart. You is important.” and having her repeat it back to her was just beautiful, and it makes me tear up just thinking of it. Go rent this movie now!
