Old Ladies Having Babies

On my morning commute to work I listened as my favorite radio hosts announced that Celine Dion is pregnant with twins at the age of 42. Her husband is 68. They were exclaiming about this “great news” and I couldn’t help but yell at the radio. Seriously, how is this great news?! That child is going to grow up with with a geriatric dad who is much more a grandfather than a father, and a mother who is going through menopause before the kids are even out of diapers!

For Celine, we know the kids will have the best of everything, so this might not be all bad. They will be raised by nannies anyways, so who cares if the parents aren’t alive when they graduate from college? I still don’t like this trend. What about the health of the babies? They were conceived through a LOT of fertility treatments. How is this going to affect the health of the child? Plus at that age, the odds they will have a birth defect is so much more likely.

I hate that this is the new trend. It’s like babies are the new handbag. But let’s not forget these are PEOPLE. I’m sorry folks but just because medicine has made it possible for old ladies to have babies, it doesn’t mean they should.

Feeling Old

I’m only 26 but I’ve started noticing I’m looking more tired around the eyes these days. You know when you wear makeup and it creases in your laugh lines? Yeah, I didn’t know about that until this year either. EEP! I guess I should look into getting some prevera to fight these wrinkles. Still, I may complain about these but I know I’ll forever have that young look. A lot of people still think I look like I’m in high school.

Bored again at work

Well the wedding is less than 100 days away but I’m actually almost out of things to do. I’m all done with my do it yourself guestbook project. All finished with the website, and most of the planning. Now there are just little things to do that I have to wait for the weekends to work on. So now I don’t have anything to do to keep me entertained at work. I’ve been so bored I’ve researched everything from the cost of term life insurance to how to make my own will for when me and D finally tie the knot. I keep hoping work will pick up again, but that will be right around the time that wedding planning picks back up. Go figure huh?

Mother’s Day From a Distance

Usually I send my mom pictures or some other personalized gift for Mother’s Day. I hate that I can’t drive home for the weekend to spend the holiday with her, so I try to make the gift something special. This year I went with a digital photo frame and coordinated with my brother to include pictures of my niece and nephew. I preloaded the frame with tons of pictures of all of us and sent it to her. She opened it early and she loved it. I love that I could do a little something to brighten her morning, even from a state away.

Workout Room

This weekend I took advantage of all the free time I had and started organizing our spare room. I worked on building a desk and clearing out the clutter. Now I have big open space in the back that I’m going to use as a workout room/office. I’m hoping to set up my laptop there, streaming workout dvds. I may just get into wedding shape by October without having to resort to harmful, yet effective weight loss supplements I’m always hearing about. I figure if I have a workout room, I can stop all the excuses like not having the time or energy to drive to the gym. Plus D’s excited about it, since he no longer has as much time to get to the gym. Wish me luck, hopefully the new room will be the motivation I needed. That or I need to print a bunch of my worst looking photos and put them all over the room to motivate myself to get back in shape.

Brittany Murphy Dies of Pneumonia

I was bored at work today and browsing online for daily deals and coupons as usual when I stumbled across the latest in the news story of Brittany Murphy’s death.

I figured she had drugs in her system, but I never would have thought she died from pneumonia! These accidental overdose stories of otherwise young and healthy stars has led me to seriously worry about taking cough syrups and cold medicines. I even hesitate to take pain relievers because we just don’t know what’s in all this crap. It’s so sad that Brittany passed away-I thought she was so adorable. I think I loved her the most in Just Married. 2009 was a rough year for celebrities. Hopefully we don’t lose any of our favorite stars this year!

Taylor Swift’s Awkward Dance Moves

Was it just me or did anyone else think that Taylor Swift’s dancing last night at the CMT Awards was atrocious? First off, I blame her stylist and her choreographer, not her. She’s a tall, incredibly thing girl without an ounce of belly fat on her. Because of this, they should never have put her in black tight pants, which just made her legs look like a spider legs instead of sexy in any way. Then there was her long flowing tunic, which again, just made her look like a spider.

Let’s not forget her dance moves. She lifted those spider legs and sort of skittered around onstage in a very jerky, almost freaky fashion. I was laughing and yelling at the screen, “Girl you look ridiculous!” Too bad she couldn’t hear me.
I won’t even get into the fact that Taylor Swift’s voice is nothing to brag about. Her songs are catchy and fun, but she has a weak voice and her voice breaks on the tough verses. But that’s just my opinion. Did anyone catch the CMT awards? What did you think?

The New Reading Room

Have I mentioned that since we moved we have an extra bedroom? I’m so excited about it. We don’t have it all fixed up yet, because it’s been the place we shoved all the crap while trying to sort through the rest of the house.

Between midterms, social obligations, work, and getting the rest of the house situated there just hasn’t been time to work on it. I did manage to clear a spot so I could take a picture of the work in progress.

Not so bad at first glance right? It’s got a love seat, with the book shelf full of my favorite books to curl up with. Little reading lamp, kind of fun and relaxing right?

Oh right…there’s all the junk! I managed to hang up that painting plus a map of the US last night. I still have to sort through those bags and find a decent filing cabinet. This is also going to be the office, in addition to the reading room/the project room, and the whiskey bar. Yes…whiskey bar. D rolled in his kitchen island (which won’t fit in our kitchen) and put his different alcohols on it, and annouced that he’ll have poker nights in here at the table, and be able to serve his guests at the bar. I think it’s actually kind of cute, and I’ll post pictures when that’s all organized. But in reality, I’m betting it’s going to be the reading room, 90% of the time.

Jon and Kate’s Latest Struggles

Is anyone else sick of hearing about these idiots? I get why they started the show, to help make money and provide for their ridiculous amount of kids. They racked in the money and then watched as their marriage collapsed on national television. Now Jon has emptied the bank account and left Kate with a thousand bucks to live off of. Now she’s on the Today show with her sob story about not knowing what she’s going to do, and how she can’t pay her bills, and she’s probably already looking for dental care discounts and other hand outs for the kids. I agree that Jon has been a real sleazebag lately, but isn’t there money set aside for the kids since THEY are the ones who earned it? I’m sure there is legal action she can take. Plus when they were going through this divorce stuff, didn’t she set some money aside?
It just bugs me that they’ve gotten so out of hand with their spending, that she doesn’t know if she can pay her bills? Come on, you make MILLIONS. I don’t feel sorry for this woman, who is too busy going on every talk show on the planet, exploiting her kids on tv, and not willing to let go of the golden paycheck when enough already. The kids need the cameras out of their face. I don’t care if Kate decides to have her own talk show (which will eventually bomb after the hype fades out), but take those poor kids off the air. I’m glad the show is temporarily on hold, let’s hope it’s permanent.

I love how now Kate is all high fashion, and blackberry weilding. The money was for the kids, right?

And this guy. How he got so many nannies, 20 somethings to sleep with him I’ll never know!

I Heart October

There are so many reasons to be happy it’s October.

-The Fall season with it’s beautiful leaves and cool crisp days.
-Halloween and all the fun parties to attend, and costume ideas to think about
-Dandy’s Halloween Giveaway (Which I really hope to win, because I can make cupcakes for the annual Halloween Party that my friends T&M host every year). There are way too many appetizing pictures of food on there. It’s torture!

This Halloween D and I have a great costume idea picked out. We’re once again doing the couple costumes because I think they’re a hoot. Hopefully we find everything for the costumes. I’m not going to tell you what it is yet, you’ll just have to be surprised. I will give you a hint though, it has to do with our favorite show, The Office. Care to make a guess?
