Been Nice

Guest post by Gerard Mcdaniel

It’s nice having so many http://www.direc4u.com/ channels because kids were always fighting about what to watch. Now we’ve got some stuff that’s sort of in the middle and they both really love animal shows so they usually settle on that. I don’t know when kids started watching as much TV as they do but you know, I guess it’s not the worst thing in the world for them to learn about animals while they’re resting and allowing me to get laundry done and whatnot. I can’t believe when I was a kid my mom would just let me outside in the neighborhood for hours at a time not knowing where I was but you know, times were different back then and I feel like you could trust your kids more. Anyway, I love my kids but they need to learn to agree on something other than animal shows. If they don’t I’m going to strangle both of them before they’re old enough to go off to college, mark my words on it!

Insurance

Insurance

Guest post written by Joseph Finch

I am seriously considering buying a Elizabeth Home Security system. I can’t decide if it is really worth the money. It is one of those things in life that you really wish you had if something bad happens but a bill that you never really want to pay. It is just like health insurance or cancer insurance. It isn’t something you really want to spend money on, but you know you will want it if you get sick and need to go to the hospital. I can’t imagine if your home was broken into and all of your belongings were stolen. I really can’t imagine if your house was broken into while you were home. That would seriously be traumatic. I probably just need to go ahead and sign up for it because just the fact that I am considering it means something is probably going to happen if I don’t get one. The last time I was driving and I mentioned that I hadn’t gotten a speeding ticket in a year, the next thing I saw in the rear-view mirror was police lights pulling me over. That is just how it goes, isn’t it?

Looking Into It

Guest post from: Constance Rodgers

I looked into business internet service when I first started the company and to be honest, the whole thing overwhelmed me. I’m not very computer savvy anyway which is why I do lawn care, not IT, but I took the time to learn what I need instead of just giving up and letting someone else deal with it like I normally do. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m no computer expert or anything but I understand a little bit more about what a business like mine needs to stay running. I’m even starting to learn about search engine optimization and website building, both of which I think are skills that make me happy to know. I don’t like having to trust someone I don’t know to something I don’t know anything about and thankfully I’ve spend some time learning more so I can feel better equipped to make good decisions for my business. It’s a tough thing to do but I highly recommend it to anyone in my position or just starting out.

Packing Up

As I’m looking around our apartment trying to figure out what I should keep and what I should throw out I’m so grateful that I didn’t go with one of those big U shaped desks and settled for a much smaller one instead. We are moving to an even smaller place most likely and there is barely room for all of our stuff. Hopefully it will only be for 6 months or so and then we can move to something bigger, hopefully something that we actually own.

How Come Marriage=Babies?

Why is it that whenever someone gets married, the first thing people ask is, so when are you having babies? Just because I’m getting married soon I should invest in prenatal vitamins and start planning out the nursery? Don’t get me wrong. I love kids, and I am excited to have my own someday. But I want to enjoy my honeymoon first and some time with my husband. On the other hand, there are also those out there who want to tell us when we should have kids, and to wait a long time, ecetera. My feelings? It’s our business when/if we’re going to have kids. We may adopt. I know there would be a lot of opinions on that one too. So I say, BUTT OUT! I know I’ll try to do the same for my friends who get married in the future. :-)

How to Lose Friends & Alienate People-DVD Review

how_to_lose_friends_and_alienate_people_ver2_xlgWell, asking your friends to watch this DVD might do exactly as the title suggested. This movie was just plain bad. I was disappointed because I love Simon Pegg, I think he’s hilarious. I knew this movie might be bad because it had Kirsten Dunst as the leading lady, but I thought I’d give it a chance.
The opening scene was funny, and I found myself laughing out loud. Simon Pegg plays Sidney Young, a British magazine journalist who both idealizes and abhors celebrities. He writes for an alternative magazine that pokes fun at celebrities, but then he gets hired for Sharp magazine in the states, which is a conservative magazine idealizing them. He basically sells out to the man for affordable health insurance and a fat paycheck. His colleague, Alison Olsen, played by Kirsten Dunst, is a wannabe writer who works for the magazine looking for connections. The plot of the movie is extremely predictable. Sidney is charmed by the stars and the sexy actress Sophie Maes, played by Meghan Fox, and she promises him a night in bed if she wins best actress. Simon Pegg does his best with this role, but the writing was just slapstick and silly. There could have been a lot more done with this concept: making fun of celebrities and how important they think they are, when really they’re just shallow twits. But instead, Simon just makes fun of himself, there’s a bit of gross out humor, and Kirsten once again does the acting job of a piece of cardboard. Definitely leave this DVD on the shelf.

New Look to the Site

If you’ve been following along with my posts, you may have noticed that I’ve moved off of blogger and onto my own site. You may have also noticed that there is a different look to the new site. What do you think? I wanted to give a major shoutout to Ruthie who has been my Blogging Guru and who has helped me design the site. Thanks for putting up with my constant questions R!
