True Blood Fan Club

I’m still catching up on older episodes of True Blood since I don’t have HBO (Thank you for streaming video Netflix!) but I’ve already become a fan. I love the Sookie Stackhouse books so I knew I would like the show. It definitely deviates from the books but sometimes that’s a good thing. I love the characters and the writers have done a great job with the casting.

I stumbled across the up and coming official True Blood Fan Club website. It’s still a work in progress but they’ve got a great banner up so far. I would like to see them add an about section for each of the characters on the show. It would also be great if they did interviews with the cast, and maybe sneak peaks of future episodes. A must have would be a photo gallery of all of that delicious man candy that is the main appeal of the show.

Some extras that would be fun for the site would be a forum for fans, where fans could post about their favorite episodes, or where they think the storyline should go or just chat with other fans. The site could also have quizzes, such as “Which True Blood Character Are You?” or other fun things like that.

I’m looking forward to checking back in with the fan club website and seeing what they come up with!

Happy Endings Renewed for another Season!

I’m so excited that Happy Endings has been renewed. This show is hilarious. I love all of the classic quotes. The gay guy with the terrible apartment and all his furniture has casters and wheels. “Stop focusing on what you don’t have and focus on what you do have, that chair is made out of a barrel!” God I love that guy. The show is hilarious and definitely deserves a second season. Can’t wait to tune in!

How I Met Your Mother-Challenge Accepted

All I can say is that this episode was an equal mix of awesome and torture. I predicted the end, that Barney would be the one getting married, and Ted is the best man. I also predicted that Lily was pregnant, to which I got teary eyed. I’m so happy that’s where the storyline went! Especially after the heartfelt speech Marshal gives about how life has been so terrible this past year.

So now that it’s been revealed that Barney is getting married, I wonder what the writers will do next season. Will he marry Nora or Robin? I have to say I would probably be happier with either, but Robin makes the most sense. There are also some theories that Nora is the mother, and that Ted meets her at Barney’s wedding. I find this one  a little far fetched since I would definitely think that her taking courses at the college would have come up with Barney. But she is Robin’s friend so it would make sense that she would be at the wedding. But why wouldn’t Ted meet her prior to that?

I am so relieved that Ted didn’t end up back with Zoey. Bleck! She was just plain terrible and I’m glad that Robin and Barney stopped it. I can’t wait until next season, and it’s going to be absolute torture to wait until fall for the next season.

Happy Ending-New Sitcom on ABC

I love this new show! I’m always skeptical about new shows but this one started with a bang. I love all of the actors, their characters crack me up, and the show doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard. The actors are dressed normally; they don’t have the token black guy wearing hip hop clothing trying to be street. They are just normal people. It’s a group of friends, and two of the friends are supposed to get married but she runs out on him on their wedding day. The show is about how they all try to stay friends despite this huge change in their lives. It’s a lot funnier than the premise makes it sound, I promise!

How I Met Your Mother-The Exploding Meatball Sub

I love that the writers are finally talking about Ted and Zoey. They are showcasing just how bad they are for each other. UGH I can’t stand that girl! But I know eventually they will break up. I just hope they don’t stretch it out for too long.

Barney’s story about the exploding meatball sub was frustrating. He said that he was mad at Marshall for leaving GNB because he didn’t get the chance to give him the exploding meatball sub. I liked the interaction between Barney and Robin and how she called him out for really being upset about his dad and having abandonment issues. The biggest complaint with the episode is the flash forward 10 years later, where Barney is pretending to die. He even says he has thousands of unpaid medical bills because his disability appeal didn’t go through. What the hell? Was that a real flash forward? If so, it puts a giant hole in the theory that he’s with Robin since his place seems like his regular bachelor pad. If he doesn’t end up with Robin I am severely disappointed.

I loved Marshall and Lily’s storyline. Marshall was extremely irresponsible for quitting and taking an unpaid job without checking it out with Lily. I love that she never had to show him her lack of support. She proved she was human when she flipped out at the airport and it made me love them as a couple even more.

Overall this episode fell a little flat, but I know it’s just building towards the finale of what has been an amazing season. I can’t wait for the next episode!

I Miss Samantha Who

I’ve been watching reruns of Samantha Who. I really miss this show and I can’t believe it’s not on the air anymore. Christina Applegate is HILARIOUS! I love her innocence and discovering new things. She’s like a teenage girl shopping for her first prom dresses.

Some of my favorite Samantha-isms:

Samantha: (voiceover) When they write the book of my life, what section will I be in? Mystery? Horror? Romance? Or just misfiled and jammed in the back under military history?

Samantha: I was reading an article the other day, by which I mean I was watching tv, and it said that happiness comes from realizing which things in life you just can’t control and then controlling them, even if it kills you. That might not have been the lesson. I was flipping around.

Regina: Remember when you wanted a trampoline until you hit your head on a beehive?
Samantha: Why would you put a trampoline underneath a beehive?
Regina: To stop you from jumping too high!

I’m glad the writers at least wrapped up the show and had Samantha get together with Todd at the end.

Raising Hope-Snip Snip

Raising Hope is such a funny show. I really hope it gets renewed for a second season. This week’s episode finds Virginia and Burt worrying that they may be pregnant again. Virginia runs as fast as her non skid cleaning lady shoes will carry her to the free clinic for a pregnancy test. Awkward for her, she runs into Jimmy’s crush and good friend Sabrina. They each overhear the other’s secret that they were there for a pregnancy test and thus begins a beautiful friendship based on gossip.

Meanwhile Jimmy is trying to wrangle Burt into getting his vasectomy. Burt is hilarious and this episode where he’s on sedatives was no exception. I love how simple the show is, and silly and still pulls off being a smart comedy. Love it!

The Oscars-My Favorites Won!

I was really rooting for Colin Firth and Natalie Portman. Icing on the cake was Christian Bale for best supporting actor.

Great night at the Oscars. Colin Firths’ acceptance speech was the best one all night.

“I’m afraid I have to warn you that I’m experiencing stirrings somewhere in the upper abdominals which are threatening to form themselves into dance moves. Joyous as they may be for me, it would be extremely problematic if they make it to my legs before I get offstage.”

Lots of crazy outfits.

Some say Nicole Kidman’s dress was great. I say she looks like she’s wearing a napkin.

I think Gwenyth Paltrow thought she had to dress up as an Oscar.

Jennifer Hudson just looked fabulous.

Cate Blanchett’s dress is just bloody awful. The top looks like someone drew on it with a highlighter.

Anne Hathaway was annoying as ever, but James Franco glaring at her and rolling his eyes kind of made up for it.

That and my DVR’s fast forward ability. As is tradition, I seem to watch the Oscar winning movies after the Academy Awards and this year is no exception. I’m dying to watch The King’s Speech, but most of the others I think I will pass on, especially The Social Network, bleck. Inception looks pretty good too.

Perfect Couples-Perfect New TV Series

I took a break from supporting epson printers and dealing with grouchy clients today to tell my coworker about the cute new show Perfect Couples on NBC. It’s a really funny show about three different couples that are all drastically different. There’s the hot headed couple that love to fight with each other; the couple that is quirky but fairly normal; and the over the top mushy oober cheesy couple. They’re all friends and their antics are hilarious.

I love the start of every episode, where it shows each couple dealing with the same situation but of course handling it very differently. I hope this show makes it to season 2 because it’s really cute and always good for a laugh, especially among my married friends.

Parenthood-Do Not Sleep With Your Autistic Nephew’s Therapist

Last night’s Parenthood had me in tears. I really empathized with Amber in the scene where she confronts her father. “When I look at you I see the same loser who was never there for me when I really needed you.” I have a deadbeat dad who let me down time and time again, and I knew exactly what Amber was feeling in that moment. It was so disappointing that instead of the speech causing her dad to step it up, he runs away like a little coward. When Amber sings the “Tiny Fingers” song for her brother, I teared up again. The song is beautiful and I really need to learn it so I can sing it to my future babies. I love that the siblings stood by each other and comforted one another. That’s something I wish my brother and I had done for each other.

I loved the comic relief that Sydney provided when she stands off against Zeek. I was completely on his side. Whether or not Sydney wants to be a veggie, she still needs to follow the rules and can’t live off dessert alone. But it was too cute to watch her cross her arms and square off against the ever gruff Zeek.

The storyline for Crosby and Jasmine is so disappointing. What a downer! I can’t believe first, that Crosby slept with Max’s therapist, and second, that she quit because of it, though I don’t blame her. That would be so awful to run into Jasmine and have to face her, knowing you slept with her fiancé. The part where Adam screams at Crosby and telling Crosby he needs to face it that Max has Aspergers was powerful too. That poor family! They finally get things sorted out with their daughter and now this. Of course Max hears every word and wants to know what Aspergers is. I’m looking forward to next week’s episode and how they will explain things to Max.
