D and I have been doing a little registry stalking as the wedding gets closer. We realized we had too many wine glasses and not enough appliances like an electric grill and a toaster. Someone has already bought the toaster! Woot woot. I just wish we could put some more of our hobby stuff on there rather than just sheets and kitchen ware. If I could add anything I wanted, I’d add a kindle and an outdoor firepit. Maybe for Christmas…

I was watching Clean House on the Style Network the other day, and it amazes me how bad people can let their clutter get. How do people live that way? Now both D and I have a bit of OCD, so our place is by no means messy, but the closet spaces are starting to get out of hand. We moved from a fairly spacious 1 bedroom apartment that had a garage to a 2 bedroom duplex with a small shed. There is a lot more closet space in our duplex, but we lost the garage. When we first moved in, we sort of threw everything into the second room to go through later. Now that we’ve organized the other rooms, I’m finally tackling that spare room. It started out as the dumping ground for all of our junk, from spare flash drives, computer parts, and old clothes, to our exercise equipment and craft stuff.

A huge help in the battle of organizing was getting a desk. I finally got this great desk with lots of storage drawers. We also picked a function for the room. Instead of the “junk room” it is now the office/workout room. We even have an exercise ball that doubles as the desk chair. I’m not all the way finished organizing, but I’ve made a big dent in the mess. The only issue I have now is parting with old clothes. Do I really need a dress that I wore once, in 2006? I think it’s time to get a goodwill bag ready. I guess I do have something in common with those messy Clean House people after all!

I listened to the audiocd of the first Queen of Babble book by Meg Cabot and I thought it was kind of cute. It’s been a long time since I listened to it so I couldn’t quite remember. My friend A told me that the Queen of Babble is actually the first in a series, so I decided to check out #2, Queen of Babble in the Big City.

The main character is Lizzie, who is the Queen of Babble herself. She’s got a big mouth that’s always getting her in trouble. The story opens up with her waking up in a luxurious apartment with porcelain tile and priceless works of art above the bed. It’s her boyfriend’s apartment, who just happens to be ridiculously rich, handsome, and generally perfect.

The plot of the story is fairly predictable, with Lizzie getting too clingy and pressuring her boyfriend to marry her. It’s absurd because they’ve only been together 6 months. I’ll confess that I had to return this book early to the library, so I just skimmed through the last few chapters. I can tell you I didn’t like it at all, and I don’t recommend the series, unless maybe you’re a teenage girl, or don’t get easily annoyed by obnoxious main characters who are far too ditzy to be taken seriously. It reminded me a lot of The Shopaholic in some ways. Definitely a thumbs down from me!

So I finally read Confessions of a Shopaholic. I know, it took me forever.
While it was written cute and funny, I just couldn’t identify with the protagonist at all. I’ve never been a big spender. I guess that’s why I just wasn’t that into the story. The whole time I just kept thinking in my head, this girl is a complete moron! She writes for a finance magazine, but she knows nothing about budgeting her money. How can anyone be that dumb? I also think considering the tough economic times we’re in, I identify with her even less. Perhaps if I hadn’t read this book while we were in a recession I might think differently about it.

Still, there were parts that were cute, and I love Sophie Kinsella as a writer, so I won’t say it was a waste. It was such a quick read that even though it wasn’t my favorite, I don’t feel like I wasted my time with it. I still think her book, Can You Keep a Secret was far better than Shopaholic. I still might check out her other books in the series, and see if our main character has grown at all. If she hasn’t matured I think the books will get downright annoying, but if she’s learned something along the way, then it might make for a better read.

I will say that I don’t have any plans to run out and rent the movie adaptation of the book either, despite how adorable Isla Fischer is. I’m afraid the character she plays just might make me hate my beloved actress!

Well I’m still sick, and I’m bored out of my mind. I’m at least working today, but thankfully work is slow. I don’t have much of a voice, so I don’t think I’d be any good on the phone. I’ve just been watching horrible daytime tv and surfing the net. What is up with daytime televison? 4 different channels were airing 4 different episodes of Roseanne. Couldn’t they at least show reruns of Friends or something good?
So I’ve been searching the web and daydreaming about what my dream home is going to be like. The thing I want the most is a backyard. I can’t wait till I have a nice yard that I can start gardening in. I want a lot of trees and plants in my backyard, like those beautiful Flowering Japanese Magnolia trees. Those might be a little out of budget but wouldn’t they be nice to have?

This past Christmas, the boy’s parents got us two roundtrip tickets to Seattle. We just needed to get away from our busy lives for a little while. We have been so busy with the move, with the boy’s fire academy, and with work that we just couldn’t wait to get out of town for awhile. So we ended up grabbing our Rimowa luggage and heading out for four days in the Emerald City.

Seattle was a beautiful city, and it was fun going somewhere neither of us has been. Still, I don’t think we’ll be visiting a city again anytime soon. We’re not huge fans of big cities, and I think we both prefer small towns and nature to big bustling cities. We did have fun, until my poor boy got sick with the body flu. We spent our last night in the hotel bundled up and trying to reduce his fever. It was actually kind of fun to just literally do nothing. I managed to stay fairly healthy for most of the trip, but it hit me today. I spent the day with body aches and chills, and I’m pretty sure I’ve got the flu now too. I guess sometimes you almost need a vacation from your vacation eh?

Did you have sex today???
What a scandalous question, and no, not today. But the day is still young! Maybe I should take out the sexy lingerie and surprise the boy with it when I get home!

If you were in the hospital would your best friend come and see you?
Um he better! Unless he was there too…in which case, sad for us!

What are you listening to?
Classical music that my coworker is playing.

Are you currently reading a book?
The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kid. She should have stopped with The Secret Life of Bees, it was way better.

Can you make brownies without looking at the instructions?
I could probably muddle my way through it, but they’d come out all wrong.

Do you usually tell people when they hurt your feelings?
Yes if it’s important enough. If it’s just me getting butt hurt over something small, I’ll just let it slide.

Will you be in bed in the next 20 minutes?
No, I’ll still be ahem..working. That’s what I’m doing right now, sure.

What was the last beverage you had?
water and lots of it. I try to stay hydrated.

Last thing you ate?
I nibbled on some cheese flavored sunchips. They’re addicting!

What are you planning on doing after this?
Tonight we’re going to sushi to celebrate the boy’s birthday. Yum yum, numyummy. (Gotta watch the commercial to get that reference. Who’s Num Yummy?)

What does your boyfriend call you?
Tiny, Lil, Munchkin, Babe, Sweetie, Love of My Life (my favorite!!)

Do you currently have a hicky?
What am I? An 8th grade slut?

When was the last time you really laughed?
Last night after work. The boy always hugs me when he gets home and it turns into a ticklefest.

Anybody youre looking forward to seeing soon?
The boy when I get off work, and then our friends DL& KL are coming over for cake

When was the last time you saw your best friend?
This morning

Do you trust all your friends?
If they’re my friends I better, shouldn’t I?

Do you miss the way things use to be?
I’m very happy with where I am in life, but I do miss the way my body used to look. Can my metabolism please hurry up? It’s slowed down to a crawl.

Do you hate anyone?
That’s a pretty strong word. I dislike some people, but not to the point where I think about it often.

Was it a boy or a girl to call you last?
I just talked to a guy client, so boy.

When was the last time you went to the mall?

Um, I think it was a month ago, I’ve blacked it out. I hate the mall.

How are you feeling right now?
Hungry and ready for sushi.

Will you talk to someone on the phone tonight?
Probably KL if her hubby gets lost again.

Would it hurt seeing the person you like kiss someone else?
Yes, more than I could ever imagine or even care to think about.

Is your hair curly or straight?
Straight as a board, no matter what I do to it.

When was the last time you were sad?
Haven’t really been that sad lately. I’ve been so happy with all that’s happening.

How tall are you?
5 ft. zero inches. You know you’re jealous, lol.

Do you like your parents?
I love my mom and pops. I love my stepmom and dad too…just not as close to them.

Can you honestly say looks don’t matter?
They matter to a degree, you have to be physically attracted to someone to be in a romantic relationship. But I think once you fall in love, that stuff matters less and less. For instance, if D has a pimple, I wouldn’t notice, or if he got overweight, or wrinkles when he gets older, I won’t see them. I’ll see the man I fell in love with.

Do you think a lot of people think bad things about you?

I really hope not, I like it when people like me. Still I know I’m loud and intimidating, so not everyone is going to love me.

Do you continue fighting in an argument even though you’re wrong?
Nah I usually cave even if I’m right. I hate arguing.

What are you wearing right now?
Ugly work shirt and equally ugly jeans.

If a girl/guy doesn’t like you its probably because?
They don’t like the way I wiggle

Gotten in a car with people you just met?
I did that once, and it wasn’t as stupid as it could have been, I was lucky.

Are you an alcoholic?
Nope, dodged that bullet.

Where will you be in an hour?
The way this survey is taking me I’ll be here all night, but hopefully I’m off work soon and onward to sushi!

What was your first thought this morning?
I don’t really remember, I think something like why do I have to work so early?

Do you listen to music everyday?
music or talk radio

Is anything bothering you?
Just the few boxes left in the garage to unpack…must clean, ocd!

Are you talking to anyone while doing this?
Just IMing with D and a few others while working

Do you listen to your friends when they tell you that a boy/girl is bad for you?
I didn’t in the past but now I do, and I listen when everyone says how right for me the boy is. Woot.

Did you french kiss before you were 16?
13, gasp!

Have you ever had a poem or a song written about you?
Yeah freshman year.

Would you rather sleep with someone else or alone????????
I love sleeping next to the boy.

When was the last time something bothered you?
Probably a client earlier this morning

How often? do you lose your voice????????
Not as often as some people would like.

Are you a jealo?us perso?n???????
Not really. Envious… Not jealous.

Do you think? age matte?rs in relat?ionsh?ips???????
No. Maturity matters.

Do you know anyon?e that smoke?s weed???????
Yeah, I live in Northern California, DUH!

?
Are you in a relat?ionsh?ip???????
Yes! The best relationship!!

Are you in love???????
Nope.
He just pays the bills! OF COURSE I AM!!!!!!

I think it’s fun how some blogs have certain days where they do certain things. For instance, the boy has his Random Thought Wednesdays on his blog. So I thought I’d make my own blog day, and I’ve decided it’s going to be Random Survey Friday. We’ll see how long this actually lasts, but I figured it’ might be interesting for at least a little while.

So here goes…
Have you ever seen the last person you textd naked?
Gasp I have not, but I wouldn’t mind if she showed a little leg, eh Crystal, whattayasay? Hehehe.

Will tomorrow be better than today?
Yes I think tomorrow will be kick ass cause we’re moving, but making Crystal’s day today was pretty great.

Do you want to see somebody right now?
Yes, there are a few people I’d love to see.

Do you honestly believe that good things come to those who wait?
In a way-I think you have to be patient, but I think you also have to be positive and go out there and work hard and try to achieve what you can on your own. The big thing is keeping positive.

What do you bite on more, your tongue, lip, or nails?
I’m a lip chewer.

Have you ever been cheated on?
Yup, it’s a horrible feeling.

What catches your eye more? Eyes or smile?
Smile

Do you have trust issues?
Not like I used to.

Are you starting to realize anything?
That buying a home is a lot more expensive than just the cost of the home. It’s gonna take years to save up the money! I’ve also realized that it’s so much better to give gifts than receive them. Seriously it’s my favorite thing to do.

What is your current mood?
happy and anxious (happy cause it’s Friday and anxious for the clock to change)

Would you ever get a tattoo?
I don’t know…I may, but only if I absolutely loved the design, and I’d probably get it someplace random like my foot or my big toe.

Do you think you will be in a relationship 3 months from now?
I sure hope I’ll be in the same one I’m in now.

Who did you last get into a big argument with?
a big argument? I have had little tiny arguments with D but nothing to get really upset over. I’ve been pretty upset a few times lately by family, but never let it go into a full out argument. Probably the last person was through email with RH before she ended our friendship. I’m far better off without her drama though, so it was all for the best.

Who was the last person you talked to on the phone?
Crystal (The Queen)

Did anyone see you kiss the last person you kissed?
oh gosh I sure hope not, cause that’d mean they were in my bedroom, which is just disturbing. Maybe my dog Monkey was watching?

What are you doing tomorrow?
MOVING! I’m more than a little excited about it. After the big move we’re having dinner with the boy’s sister and saying goodbye before she leaves for Argentina.

Are you wearing something you borrowed from someone?
YES as a matter of fact. Well given to me actually. The Queen gave me this pink shirt and I love it.

What time did you go to sleep last night?
Around 11, maybe a tiny bit earlier.

What are you listening to?
My coworker is playing oldies and we’re rocking out!

Is there someone who you can spend every minute with and be happy?
I’m pretty sure I could spend every minute with D. Except if I had to pee, then he’d need to leave the room.

Who was the last person to call you baby/babe?
the boy I’m pretty sure, but he usually calls me sweetie

What did you do last night?
Moved a few loads of stuff to the new apartment, and then watched The Office and snuggled with the boy.

What’s something that upset you today?
my stomach was hurting pretty bad this morning, but that’s about it. It’s been a great day besides that.

Your current relationship status?
Coupled up and cozy

Is there anyone you trust who you shouldn’t?
What a silly question-if I trusted them, I wouldn’t doubt it. I have trusted people in the past that I now know I shouldn’t have. So I like to think I’ve wised up a bit on that front.

Do you think you’re old?
Some days I really do. I’m 25 but sometimes my body feels older. Oh and I found a GRAY HAIR on my head the other day. I was like, Are you kidding me?!

Is someone on your mind?
Yep, the boy. I hope his first day as an intern with the Sebastopol Fire Department is going well.

Who was the last person who told you they loved you?
Crystal!

Do you plan on falling in love in 2009?
Already fell in 08 and still going strong!

Do you like your life?
I can honestly say I love my life. I wish a few of my loved ones were a little bit closer to where I live, but other than that things are great!

Is there a person who knows everything or almost everything about you?
There are two actually, the boy and Crystal.

Do you want to be married right now?
I think it’s no surprise that the answer to that is yes, but I’m very happy just the way things are for now. I want to wait to get married till we’re both ready but I’m confident that will happen one day.

Words you’d hate to see in a sentence together?
motorcycle accident lawyers Los Angeles. I hate motorcycles for the accidents they cause, I can’t stand lawyers, and heaven forbid the accident was in LA, one of the worst cities in California, bleck.

What are you planning on doing after filling this out?
Getting back to work! I’m slacking big time today, but come on…it’s Friday!

Have you ever kissed someone who you weren’t going out with?
gasp..yes, I’m terrible.

Are you going anywhere for the next summer?
I’m hoping to go a few places this summer, one of them is Carmel with the boy’s family. They go every year, and he had to miss out last year because of the fire academy. I’m hoping we make it this year. I also want to go to my little cousins’ graduations in Portland and for the rest of my family to meet the BF, so hopefully we do that in June. I’d love to go to North Carolina to visit The Queen, but we might have to save up longer for that one.

Do you have a friend that you’ve known since you were little?
I do have one, RD. I have known her since 2nd grade, and throughout all our moves and busy lives we’ve managed to stay somewhat in touch.

Have you ever dated someone longer than a year?
Yes but in those past cases it was far too long.

How many people are you texting?
I’ll take this question as how many do I normally text, and that would be three or four with regularity. I’ll confess that I’d rather text than talk on the phone.

Do you clean when you’re upset?
Oh my gosh, all the time. I’m OCD and it calms me. I’ll organize, alphabetize, and dust my worries away.

What were you doing at midnight last night?
Sleeping somewhat restlessly. I had a tummy ache

Do you remember what you were like a year ago?
Yes and I hope to never be in that frame of mind again.

Honestly, do you have a deep dark secret?
Hmm… I have a few secrets, but nothing that no one knows. I am not good at keeping my own secrets.

What do you carry with you at all times?
my blackberry, though at home I’m better about disconnecting from it.

Do you drink tea?
I am addicted to Chai.

Do you talk about your feelings or hide them?
I wear my heart on my sleeve, and on my face. I seriously can’t lie to save my life. It’s a curse really!
