Well we once again moved, and this time hopefully for a long while. I’m getting us all unpacked and organized. There’s nothing better than getting that last box unpacked and feeling settled in. I have a list of projects I want to do, and things I need to buy to make the house function better. There are a few couch accessories that would be nice as well. Heck, a new couch would be nice, but ours will have to do while we have a toddler terrorizing the house. 🙂
We are official Oregonians! We moved into our new place December 10th, and we’re nicely settled in now. We have done some exploring, but we have a lot more to do. With the holidays behind us, I feel like I can finally catch my breath and do some of the things I’ve been wanting to do.
We have yet to go out to dinner in our new town. I’m a little disappointed in our choices here in town. It seems to be mostly chain restaurants and not a whole lot of other options. But we are only 20 minutes from some great eateries.
Other than that, we are very happy here, and so glad we’ve made the big move. I can’t wait for the day that we buy our next home, hopefully our forever home. I know once we have a disposable income again, I’ll be hoping the hubs goes shopping at http://www.joyjewelers.com/ for our anniversary. Til then, we’ll be budgeting a lot more, but I think the trade off is worth it. We’re closer to family and friends, and we are finally back where we belong!
Things have been so hectic and busy here! If the holidays weren’t busy and stressful enough, we moved out of state as well! We just got settled into our new place, and already had a nice visit from my brother, niece and nephew. My niece’s birthday is coming up, and this will be the very first time I’ve been able to go to her birthday party. I am so excited for it. She said she wants a guitar for her birthday, and her dad confided that he bought one for her. I’ve been looking at the iOS buying guide for android compatible music software, so we can download apps and teach her how to play the guitar. I love that I’ll be closer to my sweet niece and nephew, and can finally get to know them better.
We are planning our out of state move. It’s finally happening! It’s a bit overwhelming planning all of the things we need to take care of. We need to get new don allred insurance quotes and see if we can save on our car insurance, not to mention needing renter’s insurance since we’ll be renting again for a bit. Then there’s getting rid of our old things, packing up what we do want, and figuring out what moving company to hire. We’re also job and house hunting all from a state away. It’s definitely not easy! I can’t wait til we are moved and settled.
Right now, my dream job is being Little Man’s mama. It’s a wonderful job, though the time off sucks 😉 But seriously, I love it so much. Now that he’s getting a little bit older, I’ve started thinking ahead to when I’ll start working again. I have a huge obsession with home decor, home improvement, and basically everything that has anything to do with homes. I think if my job were to find find baker furniture here and decorate homes for a living, I’d be pretty happy. Only problem is, I’d want to do it in my taste, not necessarily other people’s. Ha!
The Hubs and I have been having some big talks about our future. We agree that we want to live a simpler lifestyle. We’d like to be our own bosses one day, and it would be so nice to be able to set our own hours. Our dream would be to open up a restaurant/bar that maybe even has line dancing and karaoke nights. We’d have a blast with it, and I think it’d be a lot of fun. It’s just scary: the idea of changing our whole lifestyles and taking a risk on a business. But it just might be the best thing we ever did.
Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander’s face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate… until she sees Ky Markham’s face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.
This book reminds me a lot of The Giver. The Society has all of this control over all of its citizens, and they blindly follow like sheep. They seem to have more emotion, but not by much. What’s weird is everyone carries around these tablets that are supposed to almost be like health insurance from this site. There’s one for emergency food, one for calming down, and a red one only to take when the society says so. Hrmmmm.
While I’m not always super excited for love triangle stories, I liked that this one she basically chooses right away. We see Cassia go through a lot of character development throughout the book, as she realizes the society isn’t the perfect system she has always known. I’m already on book 2, Crossed, and so far loving it.
September is here, and you know what that means! It means so many awesome things: my anniversary, birthday, hopefully cooler temps, fall leaves, pumpkin everything, and new tv episodes! The hubs is going to be switching to graveyard shift, which means I’m in for quite a few solo evenings. I’m looking forward to relaxing with a few of my favorites, and also some new shows to keep me company. It’s going to be an interesting tv season, as we’ve cancelled cable, and I’ll be relying on the networks to post the shows the day after they air. It also means I may have to wait a whole week for some shows to unlock. But with this playlist, it looks like I will have plenty of time to play catch up!
Here’s a list of all the shows I’m looking forward to this fall in no particular order:
Vikings (the one show my hubby will watch with me!)
Once Upon a Time
Big Bang Theory
The Mindy Project
About a Boy
Parks & Recreation (No idea what is in store for this show. The finale felt like the end of the series didn’t it?)
New Shows I’m Hoping I like:
A to Z (already saw the preview episode and I love it!)
Red Band Society (again already saw the preview episode, blogged about it, loving it!)
I’ve always thought of myself as one of those really organized and cleanly people. That is until Pinterest came along. I swear some of the cleaning posts take it beyond just house cleaning and into a realm of OCDness that even I can’t compete with. Of course, with a toddler, aka baby tornado, it’s hard to keep things neat and tidy all the time. I would love to do half the things on these Pinterest boards, but I think I’ll settle for just having the bathrooms and kitchen sanitary for now! Someday I’ll have my OCD house back, and I’ll be one of those crazy OCD Pinterest people again.
Seriously, what is it with the major networks cancelling all of the cool new shows? It makes me so afraid to get excited about a new pilot series. First Surviving Jack, and now Growing Up Fisher? Come ON! For those of you who haven’t seen Growing Up Fisher, it’s a show about a boy and his family who are in the middle of divorcing. Also, his dad happens to be blind. I love that even though the dad is blind, he makes a point of being a strong, independent man who has his own law firm. He recently got a guide dog, and spent a fortune on him at entirelypets.com. Even without the guide dog he seems to be able to get around amazingly well. I loved the values on this show, and the quirky humor. The acting was impeccable and I’m severely disappointed in NBC for dropping the ball on this one. Why is it that shows like this get the axe before they have time to really develop their grove? And yet truly awful programming like 2 Broke Girls gets renewed yet again! UGHHHH!
