Grey's Anatomy-I Liked You Better When You Were Naked

This entire episode was so eerie to me because it hit so close to home. The theme was choosing your career or love. Yang was of course advocating surgery over love any day of the week. Grey said why can’t you have both? Throughout the episode we see a patient come in who is a singer, who might have his lung removed. He pleads with the doctors, saying he’d rather die than not be able to sing. He says it’s who he is.

Last night D and I had a deep discussion about his career dreams. He wants to join the Coast Guard, either through OCS to become an officer, or he’d even be willing to go enlisted. I was horrified, because when I said yes to his proposal, I never thought it would mean giving up my life as I knew it. So we talked and talked, and I felt so hurt, because I thought he was choosing his career over love. At the end of our discussion he said, “Don’t you see though? I would never say yes if you weren’t on board. I wouldn’t risk losing you. I would choose you over the career. That’s why we’re talking about this.”

Back to the show. Cristina tells Teddy she would trade Owen for surgery. She says she’s not going to apologize for choosing her gift over a man. Teddy does the right thing and tells Owen.

Shocking twist was for Izzie and Alex. I’ve been waiting for them to patch everything up, and instead Alex tells Izzie he’s happy she’s ok, and he’s happy she got a new job in Tacoma, but he wants her to go and not come back.

Owen confronts Cristina and tells it like it is. “You think nothing else matters. People matter, we do matter. You don’t get to toss me aside. I won’t let you.” They kiss, I cry. It was a good moment.

Meredith and Derek have conflict because he turns the chief in. She feels that he chose surgery over love.

So that brings me back to my life. I’ve been researching Coast Guard careers on my Acer Aspire and trying to figure out if this is something I can get on board with. I want to be like Meredith. I don’t want D to have to choose career or love. Even though he says he won’t choose career, I don’t want him to suffer. I just keep hoping there is a civilian alternative. We’ll just have to see…

Grey's Anatomy Private Practice Crossover

Last night’s Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice crossover had me feeling sorry for Adison for the first time ever. Sure she’s an adulterous with loose morals, but she seems like she wants to change that. And here she was, getting excited about Mark Sloan and his proposal of moving to LA to be with her. I felt so bad for her when he says he’s sorry and that it was all just because he’s broken hearted over Little Grey. You can’t blame Adison for trying. Mark Sloan is so steamy he makes the furnace filter melt. But her friends did try to warn her, especially Sam.

I just hope the writers aren’t dumb enough to try to put Sam and Adison together. That would be wrong on so many counts. Don’t do it writers!!

The breakup between Cooper and Charlotte stunk. I can’t believe some of the horrible things he said to her! Charlotte is right-Cooper is an insensitive cold hearted jerk.

So back to Grey’s Anatomy, which I felt was sort of a lackluster episode. Anyone else agree? I was sad that Sloan and Little Grey broke up, but I do understand it to a point. Still, Lexie had no right to kiss Alex! I was so proud of Alex for saying he doesn’t really bet sex for surgery time, and I thought he was just going to go home and be a nice guy. Instead he makes out with Lexie, possibly more?

Yes, Izzie sucks for running out on their marriage, but you fix it. You don’t make out with Little Grey! Grrr. So much dysfunction in that place. I’m so glad I don’t work there!

I was pretty stunned by Cristina’s response to her cardio god when she said all she wants is Owen. “Take him!” I know I shouldn’t be surprised, but I was. That was probably the only storyline of Grey’s that I really enjoyed. It was good to see Cristina thriving again.

Did you catch the crossover? What did you think of it?

Scrubs 2.0

I’m so happy Scrubs is back for another season! Now it’s not the same ol’ Scrubs we knew and loved, but it is still hilarious. I loved the beginning where they explain why the janitor leaves. Turk is talking to him while he is mopping up the floor tiles in the hospital and the janitor asks him when JD is coming back. When Turk says never, the janitor throws down his mop and leaves. It’s pretty funny. Of course hardcore fans can find the janitor on the new ABC show, The Middle.
I loved how they showed Elliott all cute and pregnant at the beginning of the pilot. I wish she would continue to be on the show, but I know the writers are trying to ween us off of the old cast members and take us into the new version of Scrubs.
My only complaint so far is they haven’t discussed Carla at all. Even if they couldn’t get the actress to come back on the show, couldn’t Turk scrubs2.0mention her and that she was home with their children? It just doesn’t make sense. Hopefully she’ll have a few guest spots in new episodes to come.
I love the show now, with Turk and JD still involved, but what will it turn into when they leave? I think the new characters just may be able to hold their own. It will never be as good as the original Scrubs, but it sure beats watching crappy reality tv!

Brothers & Sisters-Pregnant Pause

Brothers & Sisters has been so intense lately. I haven’t even blogged about it because so much has gone on, it’s too much to write about. But this episode really got to me and I have to write about it.

3973d3f89077f9698c89c250a476f467Rebecca is pregnant, and she kept it from Justin. It’s so ridiculous because the two of them are so immature. I guess they’re the typical twenty-somethings, but it just boggles my mind how they can be so stupid sometimes. They don’t talk about their feelings to each other, they just blow up and spazz out. Justin fails his medical exams, and lies about it instead of leaning on Rebecca for support. All I can say is I’m so glad I have the kind of relationship I have with D. We don’t keep those kinds of secrets. He’s my best friend and he’s the first person I would run to if I were in Rebecca’s shoes.

I do like that he was finally there for her, but I’m mad that he didn’t fess up about his grades. Now he’s going to become more and more stressed out, and they’re going to fight like crazy.

In other news, I’m sad that Sarah’s hunky piece of Frenchman broke up with her. I don’t blame him though, she was pretty horrible to him. And I really hope her intuition about Nora’s relationship is wrong. It’s about time they let her be happy!

I do love that this show is about messy relationships, and that everything isn’t all sunshine and roses. But sometimes I want to see them have the happy moments. At least Kitty seems to be surviving her cancer so far. That was a heartbreaking moment when the family found out. I found myself crying like a fool right along with the rest of the Walkers.

V-New Series on ABC

V_2009_Intertitle

Boy the people over at ABC sure do love the actors from LOST. Not that I blame them, for they are all awesome. There are a few familiar faces in the new series V, and it’s hard to get used to seeing them without dirt all over their faces.morena-baccarin-v-tv-series-promo-mq-02

V is about alien ships coming to Earth, and calling themselves “The Visitors”. They say they’re here for peace, always, but there’s something fishy behind their peaceful and attractive exteriors. They want something from humans, and they are determined to get it. What that is we don’t know yet. Newscaster Chad Decker starts to see that they aren’t all they seem when he is granted an exclusive interview with the V’s leader, Anna. She says she doesn’t want him to ask any questions that would, “portray them in a negative light.”

Then FBI agent Erica discovers that these Vs have been living among humans for years. She learns they aren’t all peace and hope like they would like the world to believe.
Together with Father Jack (funny that Erica teams up again with a guy named Jack, just like on LOST!) she learns that her partner was a V in disguise. What’s confusing is that the Vs look exactly like humans, and the only way to tell they’re real is to cut them open. It’s not quite as cheesy as that show Dark Angel, where the soldiers all had barcode scanner tattoos on their necks. The Vs actually have reptilian bodies, but they cover it with a human exoskeleton type thing.
I’m still undecided about the show, but I’m interested. I love a good conspiracy, and let’s face it, even though he’s a Father, Jack is a total hottie!

Grey's Anatomy-New History

f8f78d0e9ef008121fdffb19b7120171

I love Owen and Cristina as a couple on Grey’s. I like that Owen doesn’t take all the crap that Cristina pulls. He doesn’t let her bully him around. And when he brings in a cardio god as a “present” for Ms. Yang, I thought, oh he really knows her! That is until it becomes clear that Teddy Altman, Owen’s old Iraq buddy, isn’t exactly the cardio god Yang is used to. Plus it’s painfully obvious that she has a crush on Owen. Teddy is played by Kim Raver who I loved on Lipstick Jungle. It’s nice to see her on tv again, but I have a feeling she won’t be around long. She just doesn’t mesh with the rest of the cast very well. Maybe that’s the point, to show that she’s been in Iraq for a long time and isn’t as catty as the rest of the Grey’s doctors. Let’s face it, our beloved doctors act more like high schoolers concerned about acne treatment than grown ups!

Izzie makes her comeback when she brings in her favorite teacher from her hometown to see if McDreamy can fix him. I think she’s so immature for not even talking to Alex about their problems. I love that he stormed out on her, because she deserved it. Hopefully they patch things up, but Izzie can’t just walk away from a marriage and expect everything to be ok. The end of the episode finally shows their confrontation: “I am your husband and you didn’t give me the benefit of the doubt, so you know what, I can’t forgive you either.”

The last scene shows a major explanation for why the chief has been acting so strangly. He’s in the bar across from the hospital…drinking. After years of being sober, he’s cracked. It’s so sad to see him go down that road again, but it makes sense considering all the pressures he’s faced. I wonder if this means the end of being chief for him. If so, I’m pretty sure Derek is going to be taking over.

ABC's The Middle-Cracks Me Up

themiddle

When Scrubs had its series finale, I was sad that I’d never see the janitor, played by Neil Flynn. But then ABC came to my rescue in the form of a pilot sitcom called The Middle, starring Neil Flynn as the father. It’s about a blue collar family living in Iowa. They have three average kids, average jobs, and average lives. I love this show because it’s more realistic than most sitcom families. The kids aren’t all model gorgeous, in fact they’re downright goofy. Their youngest son talks to himself and his best friend is a backpack. Their teenage daughter is a complete klutz and their oldest son is going through his evil teenager years.
D and I crack up watching this show because I think we’d be so much like the parents. I love how the husband thinks of new crazy punishments for his kids, like when he makes his oldest son stay within 30 feet of him at all times. It’s hilarious when they go to the public pool and his son can’t talk to girls.
I also love how down to earth this family is. They aren’t high powered working parents yacking on their Bluetooth headsets or model gorgeous living in fancy houses. They’re in a regular house, much like the one I grew up in, living regular lives. It’s the perfect comedy for middle america, and definitely perfect for current economic times.

Grey's Anatomy-I Saw What I Saw

294ded2547704df224f3d1df096e6b09I love it when the writers of Grey’s change up the way a show is filmed. One season the showed the end of a rather horrific scene where blood was spraying all over Lexie and she was trying to stop it, and then the show did a Quentin Tarantino and went backwards to tell the story.

Last night’s episode went from present time backwards, but from many different points of view, hence the name, I Saw What I Saw. In this case, they were trying to determine why a patient died, and two board members and the chief of medicine were interviewing all of the doctors who worked on her. It was a great episode with the way it was told.

However, with the absence of George and Izzie, and also Meredith, there was a lot missing from the show. It didn’t have that something that it used to have. Hopefully when Mer comes back, and Izzie as she’s rumored to, things will be ok. Izzie and Alex better patch things up. How weak sauce is it to not talk to your own husband and explain yourself?

Hopefully next week’s episode will show a little less rivalry between the Seattle Grace and Mercy West doctors and a little more spicy Grey’s that I’m used to watching.

Grey-s Anatomy-Invasion

izziechief

The Mercy West doctors are here. I love how Seattle Grace “ran out of blue scrubs” so now the Mercy West docs are in orange. So it’s obvious the blue vs orange dynamic.

My heart hurt for Callie, when she realized her father wasn’t there to reconcile but to “pray away the gay.” I’m glad they patched things up, and I absolutely loved the scene between Arizona and Callie’s father. “I love your daughter, and I fight for the people I love.”

I can’t BELIEVE they fired Izzie! What happens now?! That was all she had going for her, to keep her strong. I’m mad that she jumped to the conclusion that it’s Alex’s fault and that she left him. After all that he did for her…she’s leaving him? He tried to keep her job for her. After all the hype from last season, I was like, what now she’s leaving the show? But then I did a little digging and it looks like she’s on a five week maternity leave to spend time with her new baby. So that’s a relief! Because Izzie and Alex are meant to be together, and the show just wouldn’t be the same without the two of them.

I appreciated the breakdown that Cristina has in front of Meredith. I love it when the writers make Cristina vulnerable. She really needs a cardio god to come into play. It makes me wonder, especially after watching Private Practice, are they going to send over PP’s very own McHandsome, Sam Bennett? He would be a great addition to Seattle Grace, but he’s also pretty sensitive. I don’t know if that will blend very well with Cristina and her dark and twistiness. I wonder how long they’ll let Cristina suffer before they let her shine in the surgery room again.

Eastwick-Madams and Madames

eastwick

The new show Eastwick is being called Sex and the City meets Salem. I don’t know if I’d go that far, but I do like it. It’s my guilty pleasure show, because it combines cute guys, magic, and girl friends. It’s cheesy, but it’s the kind of cheesy you enjoy.I also really love the ladies’ hair. How do they all keep it so glossy and perfect?

In this week’s episode Joanna is trying to find out the truth about Darryl. It’s weird, all the ladies don’t trust him, yet they always seem to hang out with him. It’s kind of bizarre.

So as Joanna does some amauteur detective work with her friend Penny, they discover they’ve been led by Darryl to a whorehouse, where the town reverend is a loyal customer. Joanna gets some prime pictures, and lands her first front page news story. Her crush Will also admits that he’s liked Jo since the first time they met, but instead of taking her right there on the newsroom floor after hours, he insists on being a proper gentleman and taking her for a date. I really don’t know what she sees in Will, he is kind of a tool if you ask me. She could do so much better!

Roxie is being haunted throughout the episode by her daughter’s attempted rapist, who died in a freak accident the previous episode. Roxie feels like it is her fault because she wished he would die, and then he did. All of the ladies are still coming into their powers, but none of them seem to know they actually have them. Roxie starts to figure it out when she later tells a fake psychic to “choke on it” and she literally starts choking. Roxie ends up finally apologizing to Gus’s ghost, because while she is relieved that he’s gone for her daughter’s sake, she feels sorry for his mother who lost her son.

Kat is trying to patch things up with her control freak/alcoholic husband. I can’t make my mind up about this guy. I can see where she’s having trouble. He’s incredibly hot, and sometimes so sweet to her. But then he flips on a dime and turns into this jealous d bag who tells her she can’t have her girl friends. WTH? So she makes up her mind to leave him, and stays over at Roxie’s for the night. Joanna is there too because her house gets broken into and she’s afraid it’s the reverend who say her take pictures of him at the whorehouse.

When Kat goes home in the morning, she finds that her husband Raymond has left her, taking her kids with him. On the fridge is the divorce lawyer’s card, that Darryl gave to Kat a few days before, with the words “go to hell” written on it.

Meanwhile Darryl is in his house, burning old newspaper clippings about a millionaire who mysteriously died, and an old picture of him (the same age as he is now) with three beautiful women, who are now very old. I’m pretty sure he’s some sort of evil warlock guy, but the odd thing is he keeps helping our three main characters. So is he good, is he bad, or somewhere in the middle? I’m guessing we’ll just have to keep watching to find out.
