Grey's Anatomy-I Saw What I Saw

294ded2547704df224f3d1df096e6b09I love it when the writers of Grey’s change up the way a show is filmed. One season the showed the end of a rather horrific scene where blood was spraying all over Lexie and she was trying to stop it, and then the show did a Quentin Tarantino and went backwards to tell the story.

Last night’s episode went from present time backwards, but from many different points of view, hence the name, I Saw What I Saw. In this case, they were trying to determine why a patient died, and two board members and the chief of medicine were interviewing all of the doctors who worked on her. It was a great episode with the way it was told.

However, with the absence of George and Izzie, and also Meredith, there was a lot missing from the show. It didn’t have that something that it used to have. Hopefully when Mer comes back, and Izzie as she’s rumored to, things will be ok. Izzie and Alex better patch things up. How weak sauce is it to not talk to your own husband and explain yourself?

Hopefully next week’s episode will show a little less rivalry between the Seattle Grace and Mercy West doctors and a little more spicy Grey’s that I’m used to watching.

Grey-s Anatomy-Invasion

The Mercy West doctors are here. I love how Seattle Grace “ran out of blue scrubs” so now the Mercy West docs are in orange. So it’s obvious the blue vs orange dynamic.

My heart hurt for Callie, when she realized her father wasn’t there to reconcile but to “pray away the gay.” I’m glad they patched things up, and I absolutely loved the scene between Arizona and Callie’s father. “I love your daughter, and I fight for the people I love.”

I can’t BELIEVE they fired Izzie! What happens now?! That was all she had going for her, to keep her strong. I’m mad that she jumped to the conclusion that it’s Alex’s fault and that she left him. After all that he did for her…she’s leaving him? He tried to keep her job for her. After all the hype from last season, I was like, what now she’s leaving the show? But then I did a little digging and it looks like she’s on a five week maternity leave to spend time with her new baby. So that’s a relief! Because Izzie and Alex are meant to be together, and the show just wouldn’t be the same without the two of them.

I appreciated the breakdown that Cristina has in front of Meredith. I love it when the writers make Cristina vulnerable. She really needs a cardio god to come into play. It makes me wonder, especially after watching Private Practice, are they going to send over PP’s very own McHandsome, Sam Bennett? He would be a great addition to Seattle Grace, but he’s also pretty sensitive. I don’t know if that will blend very well with Cristina and her dark and twistiness. I wonder how long they’ll let Cristina suffer before they let her shine in the surgery room again.

Grey's Anatomy-Tainted Obligation

2ba06a42a732a1ffbc2fd0d2267def85I loved that Meredith got more face time this week on Grey’s. She is given a tough choice. Her dead beat dad that abandoned her is dying and needs a liver transplant. Lexie is devastated because unlike Meredith, their father was good to her, and a great dad. So despite her misgivings, Mer does the right thing and donates to help him. She tells her dad that he wasn’t there for her, that she doesn’t know what it’s like to have a father, but that she does know what it’s like to have a sister, and so she’s doing this for her. I loved that moment, where Meredith shows love for her sister, and shows that she’s grown as a character.

Izzie is put on a cancer patient case, against Owen’s better judgment. She convinces him to do a risky surgery and the patient dies. It hits close to home for Izzie because she is one of the rare survivors. Owen tells her that she has to learn how to separate herself from when she was a patient to being a doctor again.

*Silly sidenote from me, I absolutely love Izzie’s fuzzy short hair. She pulls it off so well! I know it has sad reminders of her cancer but silver lining ok people?

Christina talking to the chief and saying she wants to be cut from the program if she can’t get the right training was pretty bold. I wonder if she will go all crazy like she did when Burke hurt his hand and start doing procedures on her own. I’m guessing there will be a lot of doctors breaking the rules in an effort to keep their jobs.

Fall 2009 TV Season-Hurry Up!

I can’t wait for the new season of my favorite shows. It feels like it’s taking forever! Don’t get me wrong, I love my summers. But why does the programming have to be so terrible? On the weeknights after a long day of work, I like to come home and unwind for an hour or two with a little TV. Sadly in the summertime, it’s nothing but reruns or bad reality shows, like Tool Academy. Do these idiots really need their own television show??
So here’s a list of all the shows I can’t wait to see, as well as some new ones that look interesting.

  • How I Met Your Mother
  • The Office
  • 30 Rock
  • Parks and Recreation
  • Better off  Ted (if those jerks at ABC renew it!)
  • Grey’s Anatomy
  • Brothers & Sisters
  • Desperate Housewives
  • Private Practice
  • Mad Men
  • Family Guy

And for the new shows out, these look like they have potential:

  • Cougar Town
  • cougar-town-new1

  • Community

community_new1

  • Parenthood
  • parenthood

  • Accidentally on Purpose
  • accidentally-on-purpose04

New shows are always hard to like, because networks are so quick to cancel them. So hopefully if any of these new shows are good, the networks will recognize that, and stop playing back to back episodes of So You Think You Can Dance.  Also, thank you to all the networks for putting TV Shows online. If they didn’t, there’s no way I’d be able to keep up with all these shows.

Grey's Anatomy-Season Finale

This latest finale of Grey’s left us with the biggest cliff hanger of all seasons combined. When Izzie is on the elevator in the dress she saw Denny in, my heart sank. And when the doors opened to reveal George in an army dress uniform I knew that it spelled the end for at least one of our beloved characters. With all of the crazy storylines in this show, the medical part seems to go on the backburner. We don’t really care if Izzie had Mesothelioma cancer or skin, or brain cancer. All we care about is if she’s going to live. As for George, I think most fans figured he was leaving the show, judging by the gossip, and the fact that he’s had about two lines this season (shame on you writers, George is awesome!). But I figured he’d join the army, as he said he would, and that would be the last we would hear from him, save a letter or two. I didn’t expect the incredible twist of him being the John Doe that jumped in front of a bus to save a stranger. After that secret is revealed though, it made perfect sense, and it was true to his character. O’Malley would jump in front of a bus to save a stranger.

My theory is that Izzie is going to come out of this thing, because otherwise it would shroud the show in such a huge amount of sadness that no amount of antics or storylines would shake it from its gloom. However, sad to say this, but with the way the writers have artfully written George out of the show basically, his dying would be sad, but not as missed as Izzie’s. George had no connections to anyone anymore. He wasn’t married to Callie, he wasn’t dating Izzie (that was too gross) and he’s no longer rooming with Lexie. He’s on his own, and I think him dying in this heroic way would do honor to his character, and to the actor, who if rumors are correct, wants out of the show.

I can’t wait to see what the new season has in store. On a side note, I’m also happy that Cristina and Owen are trying to make things work, and that Meredith and Derek got married on a post it. Take that Berger’s Sex and the City. Good things CAN come from post its. ;-)

What a Difference a Day Makes-Grey's Anatomy Recap

I loved this episode so much! I loved the way the writers went with the storyline. I wanted so badly for Izzie to get married, and they made it happen. For the record, that wedding was beautiful. Having George walk her down the aisle was a great touch too.
Of course I still want to see Meredith and Derek get hitched, but I see them more as civil ceremony or backyard wedding people. Hey, the writers should have them get married on his piece of property in the woods!
Now the question is, are they going to kill off Izzie or is she going to bounce back from this? If so, what does that mean for her marriage to Alex? I do think it’s romantic that he married her, but what if she gets better? Can of worms will be opened up! But then again, isn’t that what Grey’s is so good at?
Also, I loved the sidebar with Cristina and Owen, and how he tells her his trigger for flashbacks was her ceiling fan. Cut to the end of the episode and she’s hacking the thing off the ceiling. I loved that, because I really want to see those two together.
And now for the best scene in this episode. Enjoy!

Elevator Love Letter-Grey's Anatomy Recap

Ahhhhhh this was by far the best episode of the season. I’m not sure if it’s the finale or not, but it was incredible. Finally, finally, finally, MerDer, together, the way it was meant to be, sigh. Ok, on to the recap.

This episode started off intense! In the first five minutes of the show, Owen almost kills Cristina by strangling her while having a nightmare. I was gasping out loud, it was such a creepy, gruesome scene.

I thought it was interesting the way the writers dealt with post traumatic stress. I haven’t seen a show that wasn’t specifically about soldiers do this before, and I think it’s an important topic. Hopefully they’ll help Owen, because I really like their relationship.

There there is of course poor Izzie. She’s having her first surgery to remove

091

the tumor, and all of her friends are supposed to be there for her. Instead, they all keep extra busy with work, because they can’t stand the thought that their good friend is sick. It’s sad, because the only one who comes to see her is Dr. Bailey.

Finally, Alex gets his head out of his butt and runs to be with her before surgery, but she’s already under the knife. He’s there when she wakes up though, and he promises to be there for her from now on. He also fertilized the eggs they harvested for Izzie, which is pretty huge. I hope the writers see their relationship through, because they are right for each other.

George finally got some airtime this episode, which was good to see. It seems like he’s been just in the background for the last season. It was good to see him finally have lines with substance. Callie confronts George and gets him to open up about how upset he is that his best friend could die.

Now for the best part: Meredith and Derek. At the end of the episode, Mer goes to get on an elevator, and the Chief stops her and says she can’t get on that one. She’s confused, until the other elevator opens up. There’s Derek, with all the brain scans from every surgery they’ve done together. He talks about each one, and how he felt for her after. He then says he’s not going to ask a question, but tell her that he wants to spend the rest of his life with her, and she says she wants to spend it with him too. Ahhh! Freaking FINALLY. It was a great proposal, true McDreamy style. Hopefully Meredith doesn’t spazz out when it comes time for I dos. If she does that, I’m pretty sure I’d kick over my tv stand in frustration.

Stand By Me-Gray's Anatomy Recap

I was so happy that the truth finally came out to everyone about Izzie’s illness. I was sick of her not coming clean, especially to Alex. Cristina tries to convince Izzie to start treatment, and to let everyone know, but she refuses. So when Cristina tells Alex and Bailey before surgery, so matter of fact and then asking for a scalpel, right there among the industrial clamps, surgery equipment, and all the nurses, was so classic Yang. Even though it was a sad moment, I still loved it.

As for the rest of the show, it was just average. There was silly intern drama, which I didn’t care about, but I loved how Grey handled it. “You go get your arm fixed, you go clean yourself up, and you, get to OB because yes, you are pregnant.” She was like Bailey in that moment, and she nailed it.

Meanwhile Bailey tries getting Callie and Hunt to go get Derek to come back to work. He just manages to make them depressed and start drinking too, but when the chief comes, it seems to have some effect on him. Still, it takes Meredith coming back, and telling him that she needs him to help Izzie for him to finally get up off his butt and look at her xrays.

I’m curious about how the writers are going to handle Izzie’s illness. Is Derek going to perform a life saving one in a million chance of survival surgery on her? Or are they going to kill her off? It doesn’t seem likely that they would kill her at this point. She’s bringing ratings back to the show, and they’ve given her substance once again. I just hope the rest of the characters show a little more sadness.
When Meredith was dying from almost drowning, everyone was in tears, and the episode was incredible. So far not one tear has been shed for Izzie. If they let her leave the show that way, I’m going to be pissed. But also, if they let her die, I think the show would be over.

She’s an integral part, and they need to keep her on until the show is over. Which, if I were the writer, I’d finish the show up next year. It’s a great show, but it’s gone so far downhill since the first and second season, and I don’t see it ever coming back. Better to finish off the series while there’s still some dignity, instead of letting it turn into something like ER became. I will say that this season has been far better than the last two years though, and if they keep it up, then there may be a few more seasons left in them, provided none of the main characters call it quits.

Grey's Anatomy-An Honest Mistake

This episode was heartbreaking. Normally I care more about the main characters in the show than I do the patients that come in. The pregnant woman with the stroke broke my heart. I love the actress who played her, Jennifer Westfeldt, because she was on the show Notes From the Underbelly. She’s cute and spunky, and she did such a good job with that show, that ABC canceled far too early. I was sad that they killed her, and felt so sorry for Derek when the husband screams, “you murdered her!” Ouch.

Oh, and I just have to gloat for a minute because I so CALLED IT with Izzie. Well, me and my readers. :-) I just wish she would have opened up this episode to George instead of running around like she’s on Fenphedra. As Heather commented on my last Grey’s post, they were so close. They were best friends and now they’re just barely acquaintances. I know the writers are leading up to a dramatic episode where she’ll reveal her cancer, but I’m anxious!

Just have to say kudos to the writers, because while it’s not the Grey’s that it was the first and second seasons, it is getting back to where it was. :-)

I Was Right About Izzie

Did I call it or did I call it? They might not be killing her off, but she is sick. “I’m here for you Izzie Stevens” Denny says. You’d think she would have put that together sooner. Tonight’s episode was a pretty good one; they wrapped up the storyline of Grey feeling sorry for the killer. They finally, finally patch things up between Yang and Grey, which is about time. I was beginning to get really sick of their dumb girlfight. See, this is why I don’t have that many girlfriends? They’re such DRAMA. ;-) Course that is why we watch the show isn’t it? And then of course they finally tell us that yes, Izzie is sick, and Denny is not a ghost.
So I’m looking forward to what this week has in store for us. I’m wondering if Izzie is going to have a brain tumor or cancer? Or maybe some sort of heart problem, wouldn’t that be ironic?
