New Moon-Movie Review

Last night we braved the crowds and watched New Moon on opening night. The critics had nothing but bad things to say about this movie, and since it was my least favorite book in the series, I was prepared to agree with them. I’m happy to say I was pleasantly surprised, and I really enjoyed the movie. The bigger budget was evident in the second film, and I think they did an amazing job on the special effects. I thought the werewolf phasing was seamless, and I liked the new way the vampires moved.

Of course there were emo parts to the film, and laughable mopey dialogue. But overall the director stayed true to the book, and anything that was added only enhanced the movie, rather than take away from the story. The only complaint I would say was the lack of explanation about the werewolves. There wasn’t any mention of their incredible healing powers. When Jacob fights Embry in the book, he gets huge cuts from his claws. But he doesn’t need to go to Blue Cross NC because they heal within minutes. I’m sure they’ll explain that part of the story better in the next film, when the werewolves are involved in a battle.

I have one confession to make as well; I’ve always been on Team Edward, but in this movie, it was TOUGH. Jacob was downright gorgeous, while Edward looked like a strung out Heroin addict.edward-jacob09-11-8

I think it was part of the story, to show how Edward’s leaving Bella caused him so much pain, but still. He looked awful! Not at all the sexy hunk he was in the first movie. I can only hope he hits the gym before the next film, or else I might have to switch to Team Jacob. Sorry Edward!!

All in all, it was a great movie, and I’m really pleased with the casting most of all. Dakota Fanning was perfect as the deliciously evil Jane. And Alice once again stole the show with her quirky and adorable persona. I can’t wait for the next movie, my favorite of the series.

Did anyone else see the movie? What were your thoughts?

New Moon-Newest Trailer

The Twilight Saga New Moon’s latest Trailer. I.Cannot.Wait.

Another New Moon Sneak Peek

Yes, I admit I am among the millions of fans anxiously awaiting the second big screen adaptation of the Twilight Series, New Moon. While this is my least favorite book of the series, it sets the stage for the next books, and introduces Jacob as a werewolf. Judging by the previews, it’s also full of sexy shirtless men, which is always fun. :-)
While these beautiful teens are anything but typical, they also must use the best acne treatment because none of them are plagued with bad skin, nasty hair, or the other awkwardness of teenage years. Not that I’m complaining mind you. I love looking at these hunks!

Here’s a couple of new sneak peek just released for the Comic Con in San Diego. The first one shows Bella getting reckless on her motorcycle trying to conjure up visions of Edward. In the book, she hears Edward in her head, which would probably be weird for a movie. I like what the director has done by showing a vision of Edward instead. What do you think?

The second clip is from the last chapter of the book. I’m not sure why Comic Con decided to release such a giveaway, but I guess they figure everyone’s read the book and knows what to expect. Anyways, it’s the scene where Bella and Alice race through Italy on their way to stop Edward from revealing his sparkly skin to the humans.

New Moon-Trailer

The New Moon trailer is finally here!! I will say that the birthday scene is exactly as I pictured it. Unfortunately, the scene where Bella is attacked in the woods is definitely not. She figures out what he is long after that scene. I figured they’d make some changes from the book to adapt to a movie, but this one was a bit disappointing. How Bella has to guess what Jacob is, that’s a huge part of the story. Hopefully they will cut some of the emo drama from Bella’s character in this movie. It’s by far my least favorite book in the series, but sort of a “necessary evil” to get to book 3, Eclipse, which is my favorite.

Even though they changed the storyline, I have to admit the movie still looks badass. I can’t wait to see it. Here’s the trailer, tell me, what do you think of the changes?
