The Front Porch-How I Met Your Mother Recap

2First of all, I love how all the friends are so honest with each other. That’s exactly what good friends mean to me, and I think it makes the show feel that much more real.

So the opening of the show the group is showing open disgust for Ted’s new girlfriend Karen, whom I also despise.

In this episode, Karen dumps Ted for finding Robin’s earring in his bed. Then Ted finds the other earring in Lily’s bedroom, and finds out she’s been breaking up Ted’s dead end relationships to try to protect him. She tells him about how she pictures them all growing old together, sitting on their front porch playing bridge, and she wants Ted’s wife to fit in. It’s her “Front Porch Theory” and I love it.

Ted and Lily have a huge fight, where he says he doesn’t want to be friends anymore. Then he realizes that she was really helping him, and he forgives her.

Sprinkled into the serious stuff is a funny little dialogue between Barney and Marshall regarding nightshirts. It really is just better to watch it than to write about it. All I will say is there is a Scrooge reference that cracked me up.

It was a great episode but I hated the underlying sexual tension between Robin and Ted. I really hate them as a couple, and it’s such a dead end. I definitely don’t see wedding invitations in their future, so why waste our time by revisiting that flawed relationship?

How I Met Your Mother Recap

I was pretty disappointed in last night’s HIMYM episode. Ted’s choices lately have been ridiculous, and he’s no closer to finding his future wife than he was in the first episode. While I still love Lily, Marshal, and Barney, Robin is really starting to get to me. She was always a little bit annoying, but now she’s just gross. Having her sleep eat ribs, and basically be a gigantic slob is just nasty. Plus her ditziness and losing her gun everywhere wasn’t even funny, just stupid.

This episode focused on Ted running into his old girlfriend from college, who 4Marshal and Lily hated. She was pretentious , the type of girl who would point out your Cheap Blinds that weren’t designer quality. She’s also cheated on him countless times. Not only does Ted hook up with her, he’s actually dating her again, and she’s still that same pretentious cheat. I’m hoping that this little plot line fizzles out quick because it’s not much fun to watch.

Still, I love this show, and I won’t judge it too harshly based on one episode. Plus it was great to see the flashbacks of Ted with the horrible curly hair.

Blood Drive-The Office Recap

Last night’s episode was probably the most random of the season, right from the opener. Michael is just so gullible, you can distract him with shiney objects, or in this case, by Pam and Jim just shouting, “AYYYYEEE” and holding up their thumbs.

I thought it was sweet that we got to hear a little more about Kevin’s story angelawith his ex fiancee in this show, when him and Michael hold a “Lonely Hearts” party at the office. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for most of the people there, except Angela. She’s such a shrew! She tells the room about how she had two men fight for her in a duel, and it wasn’t Dwight or Andy. The idea that four men would fight over her is just mind boggling.

Dwight was awesome as always with his one liners and creepy looks. When he talks about how he taught himself how to retract his own veins, and how he can retract his penis up into his body,  I about fell on the floor laughing.

Pam and Jim have a great Valentine’s lunch with Phyllis and Bob Vance (Vance Refridgeration) until P & B disappear into the restroom and don’t come back for a really long time. P& J (Heheh) get up to go investigate, which they quickly regret when they hear sexual moans coming from the handicap bathroom stall. That’s the point where Pam, Jim lost their appetites (yeah, me too).

While Michael didn’t get the girl in this episode, he did show that he’s getting out there and at least trying. Hopefully something will come from that, instead of him moping after Holly. I also can’t wait to hear stories from Andy on what all he did on his honeymoon vacation he took alone. Gotta love scuba3Andy for making the most out of that debauchal!

The Stinsons-How I Met Your Mother Recap

Once again How I Met Your Mother writers strike comedic gold. Prepare for spoilers!

thegang

Barney is a show stealer, and this episode is no exception. The gang notices that Barney has been acting really strange, and they think maybe he has a girlfriend. They follow him when he leaves mysteriously, and even up at a house with an elderly woman. “You really don’t have a type do you?” Lily says. Turns out the woman is Barney’s mom. But that’s not the biggest shock-Barney’s “wife” makes an entrance, followed by their “son”.

Barney has hired paid actors to play his wife and son so that his mom will think he’s got a happy family. It’s pretty classic watching the expressions of the group when they discover this sham.

It gets better when Marshall and Lily listen to Barney’s mom relive tales of her youth. “I was a whore, dear.” Meanwhile, Ted is clicking with Barney’s fake wife, and they end up making out, which everyone, including Barney’s mom walk in on. This forces the truth out of Barney, and his mom isn’t mad, in fact she confesses to how much she couldn’t stand his wife and kid.

It was a great show full of one liners, and now a new love interest for Ted. I’m not sure if she’ll be the mother, but at least he met someone again. I’m looking forward to them developing that storyline further.

Troubled Waters-Brothers & Sisters Recap

It’s been awhile since I wrote a recap of a Brothers & Sisters episode. Lately I haven’t been too impressed with the story line, but this 2 hour long episode was intense.

In “Troubled Waters”, Robert and Kitty’s birth mom is having their baby. It’s supposed to be thekitty happiest day of their lives, and instead, Robert doesn’t show up. He chooses to hold a press conference and announces his campaign for Governor, instead of going to the hospital to watch their son’s birth. It’s appalling his complete lack of regard for his new baby.

The Simpsons-Longest Running Prime Time TV Series

I read in a news article today that The Simpsons is headed for history making. It’s going to beat Gunsmoke as the longest running prime time TV show. Quite an accomplishment for any TV series, but for a cartoon? I think it’s awesome. While in its old age, The Simpsons have gotten more random and less funny as the show progresses, you can still count on them for a laugh. Even if they have an off episode now and then, they still rank higher in my book than the idiotic reality shows littering every major network. When there is nothing but crap on, I can always count on the realiable Simpsons for some mindless TV entertainment.

Where's My New TV Show Episodes?

I am fed up with Primetime Television this year. It’s almost as bad as the writers strike. Where are all the new episodes of tv shows? Remember when a fall season showed all new episodes straight till the summer and the season finale-Where every week you could depend on your show to have consistantly new episodes each week? Apparently now every major network has decided to show reruns mixed in with new episodes. We can’t just trust that if an episode of The Office is old, that means all the shows from that week are old. Nope-could be that 30 Rock has a new episode right after a rerun of The Office. Talk about confusing us viewers! I guess it gives me more time to play around online loading photos into my new micro sd card and putting them on my digital photo frame, but that gets old fast. I want my mindless sitcoms to relax to after a long day at work.

What’s With That Really Expensive House?

This last week I was sick with a nasty cold bug, so I spent the majority of my time on the couch watching TV, huddled under a blanket. The boy and I were watching this crazy show about ridiculously expensive houses. It was aptly named What’s With That Really Expensive House? It was a pretty funny show where houses had everything from a car elevator to home theater seating in a full on movie theater in some rich guy’s basement. It was insane! I think I’ll stick to dreaming for a standard 3 bedroom home, thank you very much. :-) Still, it was fun to see all the things people decide to spend their money on. And the host of the show was super goofy and kept making fun of the rich people. I think I’d watch it again even if I wasn’t sick.

Barney's Holiday Songs

I’m here at the office the day after Christmas, on a Friday, which means absolutely no one is calling into the helpdesk. Today is similar to Black Friday or Cyber Monday, and everyone that is out on the road is probably on their way to the mall to get the discounts for the day after Christmas sales.
So with all this free time, I was once again able to watch TV at work. I about fell out of my chair with this last week’s episode of How I Met Your Mother. I love his Christmas jingles about Ted’s sister. Oh Barney, you sleigh me! Get it? HA!

Grey's Anatomy In The Midnight Hour I Cried More More More

I haven’t posted about any tv shows lately because nothing has been too compelling. Yes the stories have been good but nothing that made me stop and say wow. This week’s episode of Greys Anatomy finally gave me that wow moment.
I’ve been waiting a long time for Grey’s to get back to what it was in Seasons 1 and 2: a compelling, edge of your seat, leave you wanting for more, awesome show. Last season and the beginning of this season hadn’t impressed me nearly as much as the first 2 years. But this episode really brought it back!

Spoiler Alert of In The Midnight Hour:
In the beginning of the episode, Izzy still sees Denny, and it’s really freaking her out. My theory on this? I think that Denny is an angel of death, just like he was for Meredith. When he says, “I’m here for you” I think he means that in the literal sense. He’s literally there to guide her to the afterlife. I don’t want them to kill of Izzy’s character, so half me hopes I’m wrong. Or maybe they’ll do as they did with Meredith, and she’ll be on the brink and she’ll pull out of it. Either way, I’m hooked!

Then there are the murderous interns. This group puts the original cast to shame with their antics! Giving Meredith’s old friend an appendectomy WHILE SHE’S CONSCIOUS?! Without prior experience? Just ACK! And I really can’t stand Meredith’s friend, so much that I haven’t paid attention to her name. Dying is it? Something like that. Well the girl acts like she’s taking horse supplements or something for all the weird and crazy stunts she’s pulling. Cutting herself and asking to be sutured up, and then cutting her own stomach for her appendectomy. EW. I really can’t wait till she leaves the show-she just bugs me.

Finally, there is Alex. I love Alex:  always have, from the first season. I am sad that Izzy is so torn over everything, but I love that he’s there for her. It’s just like when Izzy found Denny, and Alex picked her up and carried her home. He’s the romantic, reluctant hero. Sigh.
I can’t wait for the next episode!
