Eclipse Trailer-In Theatres June 30!

YAYYYYYY! I love this trailer. Though I’m sorry to say, Jacob looks sexier than Edward. Why must the makeup look so goofy? In the books I’m all about team Edward, but these movies…Taylor you’re so fine. I can’t wait for this movie, it’s by far my favorite of the series.

New Moon-Movie Review

Last night we braved the crowds and watched New Moon on opening night. The critics had nothing but bad things to say about this movie, and since it was my least favorite book in the series, I was prepared to agree with them. I’m happy to say I was pleasantly surprised, and I really enjoyed the movie. The bigger budget was evident in the second film, and I think they did an amazing job on the special effects. I thought the werewolf phasing was seamless, and I liked the new way the vampires moved.

Of course there were emo parts to the film, and laughable mopey dialogue. But overall the director stayed true to the book, and anything that was added only enhanced the movie, rather than take away from the story. The only complaint I would say was the lack of explanation about the werewolves. There wasn’t any mention of their incredible healing powers. When Jacob fights Embry in the book, he gets huge cuts from his claws. But he doesn’t need to go to Blue Cross NC because they heal within minutes. I’m sure they’ll explain that part of the story better in the next film, when the werewolves are involved in a battle.

I have one confession to make as well; I’ve always been on Team Edward, but in this movie, it was TOUGH. Jacob was downright gorgeous, while Edward looked like a strung out Heroin addict.edward-jacob09-11-8

I think it was part of the story, to show how Edward’s leaving Bella caused him so much pain, but still. He looked awful! Not at all the sexy hunk he was in the first movie. I can only hope he hits the gym before the next film, or else I might have to switch to Team Jacob. Sorry Edward!!

All in all, it was a great movie, and I’m really pleased with the casting most of all. Dakota Fanning was perfect as the deliciously evil Jane. And Alice once again stole the show with her quirky and adorable persona. I can’t wait for the next movie, my favorite of the series.

Did anyone else see the movie? What were your thoughts?

New Moon-Trailer

The New Moon trailer is finally here!! I will say that the birthday scene is exactly as I pictured it. Unfortunately, the scene where Bella is attacked in the woods is definitely not. She figures out what he is long after that scene. I figured they’d make some changes from the book to adapt to a movie, but this one was a bit disappointing. How Bella has to guess what Jacob is, that’s a huge part of the story. Hopefully they will cut some of the emo drama from Bella’s character in this movie. It’s by far my least favorite book in the series, but sort of a “necessary evil” to get to book 3, Eclipse, which is my favorite.

Even though they changed the storyline, I have to admit the movie still looks badass. I can’t wait to see it. Here’s the trailer, tell me, what do you think of the changes?

Twilight Movie Review

Twilight holds a special place in my heart. My dear friend The Queen first brought the Twilight series into my life with one of her usual gifts for no reason. I got this book in the mail randomly back in March and I thought I would hate it. I’m completely terrified of scary things, and vampires are right up there in the scary category. But she insisted that I read it, and since she hasn’t steered me wrong yet, I gave it a try. I think by Chapter 2 or 3, where Stephanie Meyer first introduces us to the Cullens I was completely hooked. I tore through Twilight in record speed, and ordered the rest of the books online before I was even done (ordered New Moon for The Queen while I was at it!). So we were both hooked!

Then, as I was scoring the internet for all things Twilight related, low and behold they were making a movie about my beloved book. I couldn’t believe my good luck! So it has been quite the countdown for this movie.

Now, like any movie based on a book, there are going to be changes, and I was prepared for those. Like how Bella meets Jacob for starters was much different in the movie than the book. Also, some of Bella’s friends have much bigger parts in the movie than they did in the book. For instance, Eric was a very minor role in the book, but somehow in the movie he had all of these one liners. I think it was to add a little lightheartedness to the movie, but I thought his character was extremely cheesy. Still, it didn’t distract from the two favorite characters-Edward and Bella. I thought the casting was uncanny: he was exactly how I’d pictured him. And the rest of the Cullens too-they did an amazing job with casting, bravo.

My only real complaint with Twilight the movie was some of the underlying cheesiness of it. There were moments where it seemed that everything turned more playful when in the book it was really serious. I think to a point the director had to play it up for a diverse crowd, maybe some people watching that didn’t know the Bella/Edward saga, but I would have preferred it if they played up the suspense a little more.

Still, I loved this movie. I loved the scenery-it was shot in Oregon, my homestate (yay!) and it was beautiful. Also the cinematography was great; the way the camera would move around, sometimes spin around the characters. It made you feel like you were a part of the movie, and that the characters were real. Also, the music was incredible. Edward playing the piano for Bella-her lullaby was just what I heard in my head when reading the story. Also the chemistry between Edward and Bella felt so real, and I thought the actors did a great job with it. I can’t wait for the sequel, which I read is already in the works!
Here’s a prolonged movie trailer I found on youtube. It’s a little choppy but it shows a lot more of the movie. Enjoy!

Twilight Trailer

I know December is still a little ways away, but I can’t stop drooling over this. This book series is by far my favorite-it even trumps Harry Potter (sorry harry!) in the most riveting category. I cannot wait till the movie is out. This will be better than Christmas! :-)

Paying it Forward

I love it when friends recommend great books I should read. Coast Sister went above and beyond that and actually sent me a book she wanted me to read-Twilight. We both ended up loving the series so much that we both purchased the set in hardback. So I’ve been left with a copy of the first book in paperback, and she suggested I pay it forward to another reader. I did, and I hope my friend Personality Twin likes it. I think that’s such a cool idea, and I plan on giving books more for gifts to friends. I love nothing more than a good book, especially one I can read over and over again.
